Distraction in quarantine

As I said in the previous post, this is a personal opinion to understand a little more the situation in Venezuela and I do not seek to offend anyone, without further clarification we continue. I want to point out that no application is paying me to speak well.

As I mentioned in the previous post, the government already proved with us what would happen if they took away the light, nothing, now with the gasoline and the result is nothing. Now, I heard one day ago on the radio that they bought, I think, 1,000 or 10,000 tanks from China, to refuel the population with this vital liquid.

Although you may not believe it, the quarantine brings many benefits that I consider to be good and important. Among them are:

Dedicating time for learning or personal growth, time that is important, believe it or not, dedicating a space of time to us, no matter how little, is very good, whether it be for reflection, meditation, rest, or thinking.

Many people before this quarantine already had a daily routine that we followed on the sidelines, this social isolation is good to change situations that somehow or other did not allow us to make changes in our lives.

Routine changes, better organizing ourselves to have that little space for ourselves that we need so much, a metal rest from the worries that hurt us as much as the stress.

These times also serve to reorganize our lives, leave behind things or situations that do not add up to us over time, invest time in personal learning, invest time for our children, share more time with them, strengthen the parent child relationship and vice versa.

These two situations, personally, are the most important thing I see and to summarize it I would call it personal or routine rest.

With respect to telecommuting, here very few people I think have the so-called telework, because it is true that in Venezuela the access to the internet is very poor, and I would dare to say that less than 30% of the population has continuous access without falls in the year, while most users have internet access sometimes in the year, others spend (my case) years without internet access, other months, either because the cables were stolen, they cut optical fiber because they are stolen for resale, lack of maintenance on the equipment, what they (the government) call sabotage to their equipment; which I doubt very much, and I think they create these situations themselves to cover up the lack of maintenance and to look for a culprit, because they are never to blame for anything.

These times for those who don't have remote work and have internet access have some benefits over those who don't, but in the end both have benefits equally.

Those who have access to the internet can:

Learn new languages, set yourself up in quarantine, if you already do, don't give up, set a routine for it. If you have a smartphone, get off Duolingo with this application you can learn many languages in a more didactic, different way and the most important thing is that learning is completely free.

Training, if as you read, do exercises and for that there is also a free application that has routines that you can do at home and the best thing is that you do not need to have machines like those that have a gym normally, this is called Exercises at home - Training without equipment this application allows you to do daily routines that last a specific time and the great thing about this app is that it reminds you on the day that you should train. Try it! And another thing, you only need internet to download it, but to use it you don't need access to it.

If you don't like any of these apps or you already do, try new things if they bore you or don't catch your eye anymore. Tik-tok that famous application where you entertain yourself watching videos or making them, if you haven't made your video I invite you to do it, but just enjoy watching how others do crazy things, famous challenges, recipes for meals, dances, jokes among many other things.

Netflix, the famous platform where you can watch movies, series and documentaries, the application is good to distract yourself and watch your favorite or new programs according to your taste to spend a different afternoon or the whole day.

Zoom, if you prefer to talk with your friends by video calls and that they are many up to a limit of 100 people, free if you like more you will have to pay a fee. But it is quite useful with respect to applications such as Whatsapp or Telegram that limit the number of people or friends you want to have a conversation at the time.

Ludo Club, an application that was launched some time ago and that had repercussions in the last few days, since with it you can play with your friends, players from all over the world online, with daily challenges and you are sure to have some fun.

All these applications except Netflix are used frequently by me, I know that there are many more but I have only tried these and I share them with you, in case you are interested.

Now, for those of you who don't have internet access, you may want to consider the following:

Reading, no matter how simple it sounds, reading a book or whatever you want is very good, because you acquire new vocabulary, words that you may not know and now you practice reading especially for the little ones in the house.

Cooking, dare to experience new things, invent, ask your family or friends some new recipes they have or have made recently and try them yourself, the important thing here is to learn and this is a good time. If you already think you are good in the kitchen, reinvent yourself with new ingredients and experiment.

Clean or tidy your house, there are no excuses anymore to say that you don't have time to organize your home, move objects, clean and change the location of certain objects, so you can create another different environment in your home with the same objects, let your imagination run wild and get on with it, invite your children to help you so they will be distracted too.

If you have board games or cards, dedicate some afternoons to this, if you have children invite them too, so they get distracted and spend a different afternoon.

If you have children who are very good at arts and crafts, tell them to teach you that it also motivates them and strengthens their relationships with them.

Painting is a good idea, of course if you have paint for it or colors also serves, make sketches, draw, but you know no matter try, the idea is to do something and not the same thing you do or come to do in the previous months of quarantine.

Yoga, do it to balance your mind, this exercise is for patience, start little by little, improve your mental health and practice your patience if you are not very good at your daily life, either with meditation or if you have internet look for videos on Youtube that surely many channels will offer you a very good experience, that if you take care according to the type of yoga you want to do, some are with postures and can be a little uncomfortable if you have not exercised for a while.

Some tips to manage stress and/or anxiety, is more or less summarize what I mentioned before:

Maintain communication with family members, please avoid talking about the problems of the country, the idea is to talk about any other topic and be distracted.

Determine a period of time to entertain yourself at home.

Exercise either through routines or selected exercises, but without exaggerating the time, the idea is also not to get tired, but to be distracted and also that it is good for the body.

Something important and that I did not mention before is to sleep properly, the time needed to rest the body and mind that is very important.

Important, live one day at a time, do not worry about tomorrow, worry about today, do not stress about things you can not control.
