BeYourself is getting young Insta/Youtube people on Hive - get to know the project!

A few weeks ago I got to know @santigs via DM's on Discord and was instantly impressed by his passion and motivation for his ideas about onboarding teenagers onto Hive and into blockchain/crypto in general. From past projects he has ways to engage with these 'young ones', which he and his companions want to onboard to Hive where they are then supported in such a way that they will stick around. A slick app like @dapplr is looking out to become will help in giving the new Hivers an app that looks and feels cool enough to give it a go - and also @hiveonboard has a massive role to play in helping out in the onboarding process.

A few main points he mentioned pretty early on which show the spirit of the project:

  • Focus on teenagers who are fairly active on Youtube and Hive
  • Incentivise them for creating a video introduction post on Hive
  • Get an ambassador program in place
  • Have onboarded users place a link to Hive from their traditional social media channels
  • Get in touch with brands and companies that want to support them and/or already accept crypto in their stores

Also, he mentioned he had gotten two acquaintances invest a nice 32K into Hive (@softworld) - that shows dedication for sure!

Since I'm excited we have new and fresh ideas on Hive, but I also know he doesn't enjoy a huge following on Hive yet, I decided to help Hive get to know him and the BeYourself project through at least my own followers.

So who is behind BeYourself?

@santigs is an entrepreneur in his early 50's who is from Barcelona, Spain, and who has done several cool projects in Hungary and Spain in Europe. He went from doing projects Second Life to a smartphone app that urban cyclists could use to earn points - well, I guess from earning points it's not that far away from getting into crypto, right?

Getting to know crypto and blockchains

And indeed, so it happened in 2017 - stumbling upon Bitcoin ads during his Forex day trading adventures and buying the first satoshis he started to read up.

"Discovering Ethereum and its programmable blockchain was like opening Pandora's Box for me."

A few months later Steem came into the picture: summer of 2017. Since social media wasn't one of @santigs interests it took a while before he got an account and his first posts earned zero STEEM - which made sense because he had no audience yet. He went on to other projects but when the news broke that @steemit was being sold he got interested again:

"Later on, as I read about Steemit being sold, I decided to jump in again and find out what was going on and I wanted to live Hive's birth from first hand."

The birth of BeYourself

Since he likes exploring new projects and trying to figure out what he can create with the tools he remembered an old idea he had for Steem back in 2017 which was the start of his current 'BeYourself' project.

He's describing BeYourself as follows:

"BeYourself has several goals and need to work them all in order to succeed. The main one is growing a community of new to Hive and crypto users helping onboard, interact, navigate, post, and enjoy all the platform offers in a faster and better way a self-learner would do. We invest our time to do that and hope to get revenues engaging with external companies once the community is big enough."

He's working together with two 'newbies' @rosaoc and @natureleague, and already onboarded a Hive ambassador, who has now presented herself (on camera!) in the BeYourself community:

@martinacanales "is attending communication school in the city while working on her career as a professional model" and you can check out her post and video here: @martinacanales/my-bys-introduction-martina-canales

How can YOU help a new onboarding initiative?

I personally love the focus on young people who are used to having fast and 'immediate' social media at their fingertips and are naturally raised on these platforms - but now get them to know and learn to appreciate Hive! How will they be able to help improve Hive when they learn to see the value of what we have here but also see how it can be made better suited for the next generation?

I'm willing to see where that will lead. In the words of @santigs you can help out:

I need help and support from experienced Hive users. From visibility posting about the community, voting the posts from the new accounts, delegating, and interacting with the content publishers. Anything helps, even the smallest action does. In the long term, I will need the team to grow in many areas, from technology to community administrators. People is what a community needs to grow :)

Additional info:

Check out the sources, and follow and support! The future generation of Hive will need us to embrace them <3

Resteemshives(?)/shares are great too. My goal of this post is mostly to get the name of the project out there and get people to support the community. 50% of post rewards will go to @santigs for him to use as he wants.
