Why im paying close attention to OpenOrchard and why you should as well.

For a while now ive been following the work of the ex @steemit team (+ a few other members) in @openorchard / @openseed.
The guys that spectacularly quit from Steemit.inc and left Justin behind thus giving even more legitimacy to the HIVE fork.
Right now there are a few projects associated with OpenOrchard along with a potentially new token called Koinos. The information on that is scarce but regardless of having very little information to go on, at the time they announced the token a lot of influential folks werent very welcoming of that idea.
I did not share that sentiment.
Im very curious to see what solutions they come up with since novel ideas in a opensource environment benefit us all.

There is this ex-whale on Hive that often times brought up the failures of stake weighted voting and while his criticisms have merit (his influence greatly diminished since he powered down),at this moment i see no way for HIVE to move away from the established system.

The oligarchical plutocratic system is something you accept as the norm when you arrive here. Ideologically speaking, if you consider yourself governed by modern western values, being in support of such a system is in direct opposition of your core beliefs and ideals.

From my point of view i accept it because i have yet to see a better alternative in this space and i accept it because it doesnt control my life directly, im not confined to it and i can leave at any time.
That being said, if a superior alternative would present itself, id move to it instantly, just like i moved from Steem to Hive when the time came.
For that reason im curious to see what individuals with real experience in the field can come up with.
Thats one side of it.

The other thing is their interesting approach to onboarding games to crypto. Im a big fan of that approach. (More info here LINK)

When ever i look at a crypto project the first thing i consider is its practicality, what problem it solves, how it supplements the current systems in place.

Call me a contrarian but the most successful project in crypto wont be the one that reinvents the wheel, it will be the one that improves it the most.

Dont look to replace legacy systems because that is incredibly difficult, bordering on impossible, look to improve on them and evolve your ideas from there.

That is exactly what i feel the OpenOrchard team are attempting to do. Creating a standardized system for gaming engines that makes it easy for developers to add everything a game would need to achieve monetization through crypto, among other things.

Look, im a big fan of crypto gaming, but lets be honest here, most arent that great. We have 2020 crypto ideas applied to 2002 web 1.0 gaming.
Even the "big name" games like Gods Unchained that got funded with 20 million USD were mostly failures barely averaging 500 daily players.

No. The way forward isnt to attempt to create a crypto game that will rival the AAA games of today because that will fail.
The way forward is to create tools that allow developers to easily introduce crypto related features to already existing or new crypto non related games.

There was a quote i picked up a few days ago on twitter by some random guy on a HIVE non-related topic.

That’s the state of crypto - pay devs to “BUIDL” useless stuff to get muppets excited and buy more coins.

I think that quote sums it up perfectly. Most crypto devs build stuff for the sake of building stuff. Like paving a road in the middle of nowhere. Like building a city no one will ever live in.
That is not the case ... in this case. 😉

Help get the OpenSeed proposal past @gtg return proposal. Its without a doubt one of the very few proposals that truly deserve funding. Hopefully, they will restart the proposal in the coming weeks but for now you can show your support here.
