HIRING: Hive.Loans is Looking to Hire a Developer / QA Tester!

Holy hell, it's been like well over a month since I did an update post on the stuff I'm working on for the HIVE community, and I apologize for that. Admittedly I've been busy as hell on things and getting sidetracked from the social aspect of stuff here on HIVE... So.. sorry about that, I'll try and be more cognoscente and whatnot about remembering to post updates here more regularly.

While the months prior I was having issues pulling long hours in front of the workstation seems my health is recovering and not only am I able to sit to work longer hours, but my ambition and motivation to code is slowly ramping back up again, thank fuck! It was a pretty nasty unproductive few months there.. And I apologize for being so far behind.. Will try and get things moving here soon!

Taking Applications for Developer / Q&A Positions

Are you a seasoned software engineer (or hell, even a competent newb Dev) with tons of experience relating to hands on application architecture design, software development and having spent time in doing product testing and quality assurance we'd like to hear from you! The Hive.Loans team is looking to hire one, perhaps more, seasoned software engineers / developers in order to help finish up the Hive.Loans website and as an extra set of eyes to help with testing of the UX and things.

The new hires' responsibilities will include / but not limited to the following:

  • Becoming fluent in the understanding of the Hive.Loans codebase and it's functions
  • Help build out and finalize parts of the application yet to be finished, testing as completed
  • Display the ability to work without supervision on tasks delegated by lead developer until done
  • Operation of an IDE of your choice that supports NodeJS, in order to build new code modules
  • Proven ability to code functions + testing across multiple platforms and browsers is a huge asset
  • Perform UX / GUI testing on all parts of the application, report bugs and ultimately patch them
  • Pushing software updates to the companies git repository after ensuring quality of new code
  • Minor customer service roles in the sites' discord server, although this is not a huge focus

The Ideal Candidate Would Possess a Number of the Following Traits:

  • Have +5 or more software development experience using NodeJS / Javascript / Express
  • Experience using version control software such as Git / Github.com is required for this work
  • Previous hands on working experience with various database types: mySQL, MongoDB, etc etc
  • Display an incredible aptitude for detecting unwanted code functionality and patching quickly
  • Perform critical thinking and make informed decisions when presented with time sensitive data
  • Keep an up to date record of daily accomplishments related to development of site and apps
  • Willing to provide retailed breakdowns of their work days hours usage via apps like rescuetime
  • Crypto ecosystem development history and running your own existing crypto apps is an asset
  • Preference towards hiring of those with creeds similar to the business mantra is employed

While the whole Hive.Loans project is at his moment a tiny project almost nearing completion but still very much in it's infancy, the sky isn't even the limit for the future of the company and the blockchain it looks to serve here in the near future. Currently we only have one employee (@klye) who acts as CEO, Lead Developer, Lead Tester, Customer Service, Product Lead Design, etc etc etc....

As you may have already guess as per seeing this post, I've found myself spread a little bit thin and find myself in need of skilled help in order to get things up and running here soon. As it sits the site is mostly complete, albeit a new GUI would be nice.. What I'm looking to do is to hire on a developer to help me get the final leg of the site done and tested, then from there if the fellow employee was wishing to stick around they could, or they could go focus on their own work. This is NOT to be considered a full time position, nor is the position guaranteed to remain open or necessary after the site is launched.

Regardless of the outcome though, the developer hired on to give me a hand will be compensated handsomely with either crypto, share in the company or even both if that is what they desire. Hourly wage or salary is something that can be discussed upon the candidate making it through to the first round of interviews and will not be posted here due to concerns of people trying to social engineer themselves into my development circle only to steal company secrets or whatever.

The newly hired developer won't have access to stuff like the main web server nor the business' wallets, as there is no requirement for this in their work. Most of the work will revolve around coding and testing new features or finishing up and testing existing functions in the code.. Think of the position as a user experience quality assurance test standpoint, but instead of sending the broken issue back to the developers, you patch it and instead push the fix to github so I can overview it and commit it to the production version.

In terms of expected work hours and location of offices, these positions are 100% remote work with no need to relocate nor come into the headquarters for any means. Worked hours are entirely up to the developer to manage, I'm indifferent if you work 100 hours a week or 3 hours a week, provided the task I outlined was completed properly and maintaining high quality, do whatever you want. This also sort of falls into the hourly wage or salary dilemma. For the most part pay will not be hourly or salary, but rather contractual or piece based, where a task is given with a dollar amount applied and you are paid when the task is completed / verified by myself. Objectives pertaining to coding / development will be posted on an internally viewable board on the site, with dev staff able to claim /earmark tasks and be paid when they are completed.

The whole demeanor of the start-up and staff is laid back, with an emphasis on getting things done properly but still having a life while doing so. Taking life and work too seriously is a serious health hazard both physically and mentally, and frankly no job or work is worth your mental or physical well being.. always remember that! We like to work hard and play hard, expecting the same from all our developers and staff members, Hard work brings hard rewards, just as it should be!

How to Apply

In order to keep barrier to entry of applications low in order to hopefully attract a larger pool of talent to choose from and employ I've done away with the absolute need for a resume/CV as I personally find them annoying, although if you wish to include a resume with your application please do so, it's entirely your call!

If you're interested in applying put together a quick paragraph about yourself, your skills, any sites you've built or run, a link to your personal site / portfolio / LinkedIn and a link to your github.com would be the best way to go about this. While I don't have a hell of a lot of time to go through things these days, bonus points if your application isn't a drag to read through or has some fun links.

I'll try to contact those who go on to the 1st interview stage within the week or so, if you don't hear from me, don't worry or take it personally, I'm sure eventually I'll be able to find a paid position within the startup that you'd be suited for in the future! Thanks to everyone who has applied!
