Hello my Hivelovers, once again thankful that we can share this space.

For some time now, in my experience as a teacher I have noticed that when assigning an activity to my students they end up doing it with certain deficiencies or even recurrently ask how to do it, even when it has been explained orally and in writing clearly how to do it.
And since we have been teaching online, the situation has been getting worse.

I have analyzed this issue from different points of view, I have talked to colleagues and I have even remembered when I was a student how I behaved when I followed the instructions that my professors gave me to do the evaluations.

From a teaching point of view, I try to be clear, concise and give simple instructions for an easy and quick understanding by the students, however, despite my efforts, there are few cases of students who follow the instructions as they are specified.

Analyzing this, I am aware that each student is different and that some of them present learning difficulties of which some are aware and others are not. Therefore, I try to be understanding and patient and willing to repeatedly explain the instructions if required.

The other situation that I have observed is that while it is true that some of them find it a little more complicated, there are other students who are simply lazy to read and analyze, so it is easier for them to ask questions again. But why does this happen, is it that we are not teaching from the first levels of education how important it is to take the time to read and have reading comprehension?

I know that this work is being done, because with my son in preschool he has already begun to understand what he has read and to follow the instructions requested in the activities.
Can it be that in time, the student reads without analyzing in order to quickly perform the evaluation?

Today I wanted to share this topic with you, because it happened to me a few days ago that I assigned my students already at a higher level to make a report, offering even a content outline and it had to do with research on a test.

It turns out that a few days later, they asked me if they had to write a report, when the first sentence of the evaluation explained "Write a report".

Another student asked me to whom the test was going to be applied, when nowhere in the indications did it mention applying the test to any person.

My reaction was to make them see what was happening by not carefully reading the instructions of the activity and then I explained again how they should carry it out.

I wondered then what was going on?

This has led me to do a self-evaluation as a teacher to see if I am not being clear and I can assure you that I am not.

As a student, I remember that my role in the groups was precisely to analyze what we had to do and to delegate the work points, and I must confess that in college a teacher gave me a great lesson.

In an exam, the first instruction was to read the whole exam carefully before starting. This aspect was ignored by almost all my classmates.
Many could be observed writing and answering the questions with great effort. Only a few of us were doing nothing.

It turns out that by properly following the instruction given by the teacher at the beginning of the exam, at the end of the reading was the phrase, once read everything, write your name, wait a few minutes and deliver the exam.

Wow, if you read everything, you would realize that there was nothing to answer, just the name to pass. And unfortunately many of my classmates didn't realize that and lasted a long time answering questions.

At that moment I learned that reading and understanding the instructions before starting is fundamental, as you can imagine I passed the exam and now as a teacher I have remembered this experience a lot.

Moreover, I will apply this strategy when I come to classroom classes so that my students can learn as I did with this teacher.

Almost everything we do in life has a procedure, therefore some instructions to do it, so whether you are a student or a teacher we must try to read carefully the instructions and instill in those around us this habit that will save them efforts.

I hope you liked this post and give me an assertive comment to know your opinion on what I have raised.
