Over a thousand years ago, an angel fell from heaven to earth. The angel did not remember who he was, nor where he came from. He landed with a loud crash and a strong light, which lit up the night sky. When the angel got up, he noticed that something had changed. The memory of him had been lost.
The angel, all bewildered, walked for hours without a certain destination, trying to find answers to his questions. The peasants in the area or those who saw him go by looked at him with curiosity, because in those times a stranger made himself known and this particular being exported a heavenly appearance.
Finally, the angel arrived at a small town and as he passed a house he smelled a meal that was being prepared. It seemed to him that this was wonderful and his stomach began to rumble; at that moment he discovered what hunger was.
The house was a kind of restaurant of the time and at the same time it was an inn for foreigners. Many of the town's inhabitants, especially men, frequented the place to drink a few glasses of wine after a long day in the fields.
The angel entered the inn and marveled at every corner of the site. Seeing so many people laughing and having a good time made him feel that he had lived in a similar place, but due to his lack of memory he couldn't determine where.
Silence was present in the establishment, everyone stopped talking and laughing to see the stranger naked. The silence was interrupted when Maria crossed the central room to approach the visitor. As she walked she shouted:
-Keep on with yours, they look silly, as if they had seen an angel.
Mary took a tablecloth from one of the tables and covered the angel while speaking to him:
-You can't walk around showing your attributes, it's not well seen by the inhabitants. Take cover and tell me, where did you come from?
Maria was a cheerful and friendly girl, who worked as a farmer and in her spare time helped her father at the inn. She felt a connection with the angel and without being able to explain it she decided to help him. The first thing she did, after covering him, was to find him some clothes and feed him.
His father did not like this attitude and recommended:
-Stop confiding with that stranger, we don't know anything about him and incidentally he has appeared naked.
-He doesn't seem like a bad person and you can see that he is somewhat disoriented. – Maria answered.
The angel, while eating, commented to Mary that what he remembered was that he had fallen from somewhere and appeared in the field.
That in his mind he heard a voice that told him, go back to your place, little angel, but he did not know what place that was and who was speaking to him, much less understood that the voice called him angel.
Over the next few months, the angel and Mary spent a lot of time together. She helped him understand the new world he found himself in, and he accepted his angel status with a smile on his face. Soon the angel realized that he was in love with her.
Maria was happy to have the angel by her side, but she was also worried about him. She didn't want him to leave, but she also knew that one day she would have to go back to heaven.
One day, Mary gave a letter to the angel. In it, she told him that she loved him very much and that he hoped he would find happiness. The angel could not hold back the tears. He knew that he couldn't stay with Maria, but he also knew that she had given him something that no one else could: love.
Maria's parents were concerned about the relationship between their daughter and the angel. They did not understand how an ordinary young woman could fall in love with a heavenly being. To them, the relationship seemed like a sacrilege.
Maria tried to explain to them how she felt about the angel, but they couldn't understand her. No matter how many times she explained to them, there was always something they couldn't understand.
One day, the angel woke up with a strange feeling. He realized that God himself was calling him to return to heaven. The angel understood that he had to leave Mary to fulfill his duty.
The angel returned to heaven that night, with a heart full of gratitude. Although he could never remember his past, he would always remember the love he had shared with Maria.
Maria tried to convince him to stay, but in the end the angel left. Maria was devastated, but she understood that the angel had no other choice.
