The World Stopped- Part 2

With teary eyes, Stephanie and Jill hugged each other under the luminous Moon. They were supposed to get some hot chocolate, but suddenly, Tom arrived.

“I love you, sweetie,” he greeted Jill with a kiss. Stephanie was overwhelmed, and she almost forgot about her plan to prank her.

Since Stephanie and Jill had been best friends since childhood, they loved pulling pranks together. So when Jill thought that Stephanie’s world was overwhelmed, Stephanie had planned to prank her for the tell-a-lie day.

Meanwhile, Jill and Stephanie agreed to enter the car together with Tom. Stephanie put on a serious face and told Jill she had something important to show.

“The girl could not decide whether or not it would be wise to jump," Stephanie gently said, her voice trembling with fear and a fake face. It seemed that her illness was attacking.

Jill's eyes suddenly widened, and she was a bit worried, "What are you talking about, Stephanie? How are you again? Are you okay?"

“Help! Help! Help!” The lovers shouted in an open field. Tom and Jill were trying to look for somebody to help them, but their noise only dispersed without somebody to hear. Jill was already crying, and she could not stop her tears from falling into the muddy ground.

As they asked for help, they heard a loud growl from the bushes beside the road. Looking out the window, they see wild wolves with their eyes gleaming in the darkness. Tom and Jill were terrified, but Stephanie remained acting weak because she was more focused on pulling a prank on Jill.

Meanwhile, the wolves were gone, circling from afar. Still, Jill was scared because of Stephanie’s weak gestures while fearing what would happen to her as they were stuck momentarily in the wilderness with no one to ask for help. Worse, there was no internet connection, not even a mobile signal.

Stephanie could not keep up the act seriously any longer, so she began giggling and chuckling. So she asked them to get inside the car so she could spill the beans. “I have got you! Today is Tell a Lie day, and I could not resist pulling a prank on you, Steph, and I am so sorry, Tom!"

Tom was surprised and had the loudest chuckles. Jill tapped Stephanie as she let out a sigh of relief and chuckled along with Stephanie. "What are you trying to prank me?"

While inside the car, Stephanie got a mini device from her pouch and placed it on its dashboard. The world stopped for a while.

Jill was even more surprised when she discovered that Stephanie was a scientist. It is the deepest secret that her best friend is keeping a mystery from her.

“I created this new machine. I have always been curious about the world, people’s minds, and the thoughts of others. I invented a device that could read the human brain at the moment. And I wanted to test it on you to see what is happening in your brain cells."

But Jill and Tom were already awakened by the prank. Jill quickly rolled her eyes, "You know that is impossible, right? "Of course it is!” Stephanie replied proudly.

Then she read the text on the car’s dashboard that says, “The gear turned, interlaced with another and another. His eyes traced the machine's inner workings to where the light shone."

Jill could not help but laugh at Stephanie's tricks. "Okay, okay, okay! Let us see what this mini device can do."

When Stephanie clicked the start button, a beeping sound with sparkling lights appeared. "Alright, Jill, this is the moment. Come closer to me, for I will ask you a question. The device will tell us what you are thinking”.

While thinking about what will happen next, Jill was overwhelmed. “Are you ready? Ready, set, go!" Stephanie directed Jill.

Jill then slowly nodded as Stephanie's creativity and enthusiasm amused her, and she asked, "What is the biggest secret you have ever kept from me since we were younger?"

Jill's face turned red all over. "I cannot tell you that, Steph!" Jill said while feeling ashamed.

Stephanie and Jill laughed, and Tom removed the mini device from the dashboard.

"I am very sorry. I could not resist. It’s a prank! And Happy Tell A Lie Day, Jill!" Stephanie said, still giggling and chuckling.

Jill nodded her head but could not stop smiling. "Well, well, well! You are the best actress, but next time, prank me not! Or else I will use your device to read your mind”.
