Growing up i never had the luxury of having multiple and different devices, i wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth, which means i have to make do with what was available and provided to me by my parents, and if they refuse to provide one for me, we move and forget about it until the time is right once again, no pressure and no long cappings…
This was the genesis of my life until I started growing older, it was at this point I realized it’s high time i did many things differently to change many things about my life as a person and that was how I inculcated the habit of saving ahead. My first ever device was gotten from my own hard earned feeding allowance of many years, i got a mobile phone of more than 30$ after 2-3 years of nonstop savings. I guess this is one of the major reasons I don’t take my devices for granted, especially my mobile phones and laptop…
I graduated high school and became a much different person, apart from my job as a teacher, my device was the next big thing in my life that year, and that was because of the sweat and tears that came from how it was gotten…
I had the privilege to work as a teacher before finding my way to a loan collector job, i mostly used my phone to teach my students, especially in the absence of important textbooks, my phone became my workspace tool. I spent few months teaching and landed a loan collector job which was more hectic and risky than the job of a teacher…
This particular job involved the use of my mobile phone 24/7, and if possible a laptop won’t be bad, and that is because i have to deal with customers and loan demanders everyday, my phone was a means to track their payment history and progress. This lasted for a while until i quitted…
I have never travel for a job before, most of my jobs never involved traveling and the device I used most for my last two jobs were my phone until i found hive, hive made my phone phones and made my work device devices. I became someone with two mobile phones after 6 months of joining hive, and after two years hive gave me a personal laptop…
Thanks to hive surviving has been made easy, it didn’t all start sweet, i had to work hard for every penny i have today, it wasn’t easy but a lot of factors made it easy…
I joined hive April 7, 2022, that was a basically 2 years ago, which means i have beeb self employed and working from home for more than two years now, only God and the hive blockchain made it possible. The difference is massive, no boss to report to daily, no signing in time, no signing out time, it’s just few rules and regulations to keep and maintain and all goes well…
I remember how hard it was to make my mum understand that i wasn’t into internet fraud when i got a phone of over 200$, this was a year ago. I remember sitting my mum down and explaining the nitty gritty of what i do to her, it got worse one day when i was on video call with one of my hive mentor, a white man who taught me many things about how to utilize the affiliate network…
She saw him one day on our normal meet VC and was shocked, the accent was way too different from ours, she realized i was talking and smiling with him as he was teaching me how to go about the listnerds page…
We spent an hour and ended the meeting. I went for a second round explanation and she understood a bit, my siblings already picked what i was doing up the moment they see me writing on my blog and for community prompts…
In summary, it was hard to make my mum understand because of her level of education but it worked at last, after confiding in someone who is more knowledgeable than i am and is like a father to me…
In conclusion, i grew and evolved after two years and its been Great so far, i have been working hard to survive and my hard work has been rewarded in diverse ways, which i am happy to see. A big shout out to all of my friends out there, both on hive and off hive, especially my big brother @burlarj, respect man…
