The rainy season, also known as the wet season, is my favorite time of year in Nigeria. The country experiences two distinct seasons, the wet season and the dry season. While the dry season, which spans from December to March, is characterized by unbearable heat, food scarcity, and increased food prices, the rainy season brings relief and abundance.

As the dry season comes to an end, the heat begins to subside, and the skin, which had become dry and parched, begins to regain its natural moisture. The anticipation of an abundance of food is palpable, and the arrival of the rainy season is met with relief and joy.

Living in a town surrounded by sea water, I have access to an abundance of fish during the rainy season, which are available at a reduced cost. Not only fishes, it also brings forth plenty of fruits, vegetables and crops making it a season of plenty. This is a welcome respite from the scarcity of food during the dry season.

Additionally, I plant cassava during the rainy season, process some for personal consumption, and sell the rest. The rainy season provides me with a means of sustenance and a source of income, which is invaluable in Nigeria's current economic climate.

The season's bounty is a testament to nature's generosity, and I am grateful for the relief and opportunities it brings. The rainy season is a reminder that even in the harshest of times, there is always hope for a better future.
