A SCENE FROM MY CHILDHOOD

Childhood is the best times that there is. During these times, there is no need to worry about anything. Just cry or be grumpy and every thing you want will be brought to your table.

I really appreciate my parents for the best childhood memories.

I remember when I was still a child, m mom sent me to get something from the local store close to our house. I happily went to buy the required thing.

On my way back home, I saw a red packet that looks really tempting to explore and I picked it up. I could not resist the temptation to open it. When I did, I say a pointed oily balloon-like object. I had a feeling to blow it and play with it but I remembered that I was sent on an errand. I placed it on on my index finger with the intentions of blowing air into it and play with my siblings when I got home. I was feeling my self with it on my finger, because a ballon was rare during that time, not knowing what I was holding.

I passed a house and an elderly female shouted at me to remove the balloon from my hands but I ran away. I did not want to hear what she has to say as my mind was just on playing with it when I get home.

I got home, my index finger raised just above my head like a person who is about to ask a question in a lecture hall. My mom saw the stuff in my hand but paid little attention to it. She collected the thing she sent me and was about leaving. She turned her head with speed to take a second look on what I was holding. I heard a loud gasp and a question followed. Where did you get that thing from? She asked in a loud voice. I became scared because that voice is always being used when I'm about to get a whooping.

I narrated everything and I told her what I wanted to use it for. She talked to me about it and told me that the balloon is not for kids. She said that there are different types of balloons, and this type I was holding has a whole different purpose. She told me that it is used by baby manufacturers to control the amount of babies they manufactured. She explained quite a lot and I think I learnt something from there. Though she did not tell me its name.

When I grew up, I realized that I was swagging with a damn condom on my index finger and I was really feeling myself with it. Haha
I feel embarrassed anytime I think of it but well, I am glad that my mom. Happened to control the situation then.

This incident has taught me the importance of handling situations with kindness, calmness, patience and love. Mostly, when handling children and their curiosity. I am glad that my mom was able to control that moment, feed me informations I needed and did not go past what she was supposed to tell me.
