In a few days time Diwali one of the biggest festival of India will be celebrated. This year Diwali falls on 24th of Oct. Days before Diwali there are other auspicious days which also get celebrated with equal zeal, like the Navratri 9 days festival got over a few days back and then was Dusshera which signifies the triumph of good over evil by burning the statue of Ravana, and there was Karva Chauth where the females keep a day fast for the long lives of their husbands and so on it continues till Diwali.
Yesterday in Oman we had a Diwali celebration gathering organized by the Indian Social Club of Oman in one of the halls. It was like a mini fair where there were a lot of Indian traditional items on Sale and majorly there were many food stalls serving a variety of Indian delicacies. Me and hubby visited the event in the evening, the place was very crowded since last 2 years this event was not happening due to Covid reasons, so this time they had done it bigger and better.

There were variety of Diwali hand made decorations that were being sold. I did not buy any as I have already finished my shopping, but it was good to see. They were priced reasonably.
There were some traditional jewelery also on display and sale.

After going through the shopping part then we headed towards the food counters. I did indulge on a couple of dishes. Majorly there were chaat counters. Chaat are like mini snacks. Pani Puri is my favorite of all. All the food items were very reasonably priced, so there was too much rush on every counter.
One of them was selling Chocolate Mousse, it is my favorite, I bought a few of them. After this event we were supposed to visit a friend for dinner, so we thought of taking a few at their place and then have it together after dinner.
This is the Dahi wada counter. It is basically fried fitters soaked in curd and then garnished with coriander and other things as per choice. They are delicious.

I also bought these Khakhras. Hubby loves them to have as a mid day snack
Finally I ended up with this drink made of Soda and other spices. I had the Fulzar soda, it had a minty lemony flavor.
With all of this I met a lot of Indian friends around in this place. There was cheer and laughter all around. People were happy to celebrate after 2 long years. As an expat living in a foreign land it is always good to have such community gatherings and living up the festival moments within your own tribe.
