Mumbai city is upgrading

After 3 super hectic days, finally I get some time to relax at home today morning. The last 3 days I was at my new home site and I had to catch up with people who are doing all the different works of the home. Last evening when I returned back home, I was dead tired and all I could see was my bed. But then my friend called up, she wanted to meet up, because she is leaving today for Dubai and then I will not be able to see her for a long time. I could not refuse to her and then we planned to meet at my place, order some food and spend the evening at home. I took a short nap before she arrived so by the time she came I was a little better to give her company.

This time travelling to the home site was fun. There is a new 22 kms long road which has opened up which cut shorts the distance and saves me 40 minutes to reach to my new home. Before it was 2.5 hrs from my city home to the new one and now it's exactly 1.50 hrs, which saves me a good amount of time. Also this is a Sea bridge and cuts all the city traffic and signals. It's called the Atal Setu bridge. It is now India's longest Sea bridge and built with hi-class technology.

It connects Mumbai and Navi Mumbai which is an extension of the city in just 20 minutes. Before it would take 2 hours to reach and there would be heavy traffic on the road to cross, this bridge makes life simpler for the regular travelers between these 2 places. The only hitch is that it has a high amount of toll of 250 INR, for a daily commuter to and fro it would cost 500 Rs. which is quite a lot unless you have a good salary from which you can budget it out and can afford to save this commuting time. It has taken 6 years to make this bridge, considering the complexity I feel it is justified and also not to forget there was a good long covid period in this time which made the work go slow.

Sharing some pictures which I clicked on the way. There is no point on the bridge where you can halt, so all the pictures were taken while on the drive.

There are a couple of new roads coming up in the city which is making life really easy for the commuters. Mumbai does need this change, because the traffic is increasing and the existing roads are not enough to handle the increasing traffic. Every where there is a traffic jam and travelling gets exhausting at times. Just days back one of the phase of another coastal road has also been inaugurated. Everyone is very excited because that's a main city road where it would ideally take us 30 minutes which now is just a matter of 5 minutes drive between the 2 destinations. This road has no toll charges also, it's best for the daily office goers. As the other phases open up, travelling will become much easier.

City infrastructure plays a big role on the quality of life of people. When there are better services available it does make people life's easy on the road.
