It was the Era of ponzi scheme and the first one i get to know was MMM, it is a money doubling scheme where you can put in some money and after some weeks, you will cash out double of it...
It was the first of it kind, so many people do not believe things could go wrong...
They make use of the term Ph and Gh, Ph means provide help while Gh means Get help... As a participant, if you register and provide help to another person, you will be marched with someone that you will pay within 2 weeks and also after 2 weeks of Ph, you will be able to Gh as well and by this time, your money would have increased...
The news about this ponzi scheme was spreading like wild fire and when i first heard about it, i was reluctant to participate in it but my sister who was into it convinced me into joining and since she has been doing it for some months and didn't encounter any problem, i decided to also risk 20 000 naira...
My first trial was a success, i cashed out 28 000 naira, it barely lasted two months after i joined as that was when they started having problem and they had to alt Ph and Gh...
The moment the issues arise, some people already know it was about crashing and the lucky ones whose pay out was close cashed out and left but there are some of us that we just paid and had to wait weeks before we can Get help....
Few days after, the system was down and everyone already know what is going on, so everyone stop paying and funny how everyone started to click on the Get help option as if they are not the one paying one other...
I didn't lose much but there are some people who used their house and properties as collateral to obtain loan to partake in this ponzi, some sold their properties and it is these set of people that felt their life has been ruined... Some went ahead to commit suicide because they don't know where to start from again,,,They lost their life savings to MMM...
A great lesson was learned though, after MMM many other ponzi schemes started showing up, but once bitten twice shy, that was the last time i partaked in a ponzi scheme...
