I think I won't be mistaken if I say that my dogs hate going to the vet. I understand them. I don't like visiting doctors either. I understand that this is wrong. But I must say that I follow the health of my dogs much better than my own. Therefore, a visit to the veterinarian should always be on schedule.
If one visit per year is sufficient for young and healthy dogs, those with chronic diseases require more frequent examination. I feel very sorry for them. Unfortunately, there is no way to explain to them that this is just a follow-up visit and the most unpleasant procedure is blood sampling for analysis. They are very afraid and nervous. That's why I also often start postponing such a visit, which is wrong.
On the way back from the clinic, I always try to do something pleasant for them, so that the whole trip is not associated only with unpleasant impressions. Usually it's a treat and a short walk near the lake or in the forest.
Despite its size and solid appearance, Romashka behaves like a naughty puppy at the vet. To begin with, she always tries to escape. Then she makes an indispensable puddle in the vet's office. It's already like a ritual! She categorically refuses to behave calmly so that the vet can examine her. For me, all this is also a test, because it weighs more than 30 kilograms! If she understood, I'm more happy than she is, when this visit is over, she would probably be very surprised.
