[ESP-ENG] Introducing my pets - Say hello to Duquesa! // Presentando a mis mascotas - ¡Saluden a Duquesa!

¿Cómo no quererla?

Hi Hive Pets friends, last week I shared with you an introduction of Kofi, my cat and my experience with him since he was very small (Link here), this time I will talk about Duquesa, a kitten that came into my life a little more than 3 months ago and has adapted very well to the family.

There was a time when Kofi was sick, with stomach problems due to parasites, and although we took him for deworming and improved his diet, he still seemed to be discouraged, so I thought that bringing one more cat home could make him play and be more alert again.

I told a friend about my search for a small cat and she immediately told me that she had an acquaintance who was giving out 1 or 2 month old kittens for adoption. Without hesitation I told her to pass me his contact information to talk to him, and so it was that one day after my social work hours at school, I arrived home and my mom told me that the boy had already dropped off the kitten. I went to the living room and in a small box there was a very small and somewhat frightened kitten.

I immediately fell in love with her.

How could I not love her? Her little eyes were the cutest in the world, plus, her little tail curled in a very funny way between her paws. My siblings were also fascinated by her, the only one who didn't seem to like her at all was of course... Kofi. As you probably know, cats are extremely territorial, it was no wonder he growled at her from a distance and didn't want us to touch him after he got his hands on the other kitty.

As I said above, she seemed scared, she was a long time sheltered in the box where she arrived, but little by little she lost her fear and started to look around the house. It was very cute to see her walking around, I imagine she was trying to figure out where her other siblings were and what was that place she was in, luckily it didn't take her long to get used to the environment.

Since her food was so small we mixed it with water or milk, that way the croquettes were softer and easier for her to chew. At first we served her food far away from Kofi, as there was a risk that he would come and take it away, but gradually we moved them a little closer so they could get used to each other.

When I was whistling or drawing I would pick her up and put her up on the table, she would lay her body down and sleep for quite a while. On several occasions she seemed to prefer to lay down right on the sheet where I was about to draw, so I would have to wake her up and move her around (I'm starting to think she was doing it on purpose haha).

They look very comfortable don't they?

Regarding her relationship with Kofi, within two weeks of arriving they had gradually become closer. As I had imagined, Duchess encouraged him, always hiding behind him and jumping on him to start a friendly wrestling match. Now they sleep together almost anywhere, Kofi developed a protective instinct for her, licks her ears and muzzle and accompanies her wherever she goes. They are very cute to watch.

Today Duquesa is 3 months old and is the most spoiled cat we have ever had. In the mornings she looks for affection from us by passing her body next to us, she even lies down on the floor and walks around a few times wanting us to scratch her belly (we have already learned many of her codes XD). It is enough that she looks at us with big pupils and purrs a little to capture our attention completely.

Although she is very spoiled, she is also very active, I have seen her hunting huge spiders, or climbing to high places and jumping down (except when she wants to climb to the roof and then she can't find her way down...). In the evenings her energy multiplies and she spends her time running and jumping all over the house, more than once my mom has tripped when she when her legs run past.

IMG_20210830_100247.jpg

I think I have more pictures of her than anyone else in my gallery, I always find her in very cute poses that I want to remember forever.

My cats and I will see you animal lovers very soon. Good bye!
