Antes de que llegara Poly a la casa fui clara con mi hermano, yo tenía mucho miedo por el fallecimiento de mi perrita anterior, así que le dije que él se iba a asegurar de que tuviera todo lo que necesitara y estuviera en control estricto con su veterinario si iba a traer una nueva a la casa.
Así que unas semanas después que llegó, la llevamos al veterinario, la desparasitamos y le pusimos sus primeras dosis de vacunas, el veterinario nos dijo algo muy cómico, no sabía hasta que tamaño iba a crecer porque tenía 3 meses en ese momento, estaba pequeña y además no sabía que mezcla genética tenía, ya que Poly es mestiza y nos la dieron en adopción.
Mi hermano y yo nos reímos porque su mamá parece una mezcla de "Cocker Spaniel" con otras muchas razas, pero nos habían comentado que los padres de su mamá tenían una mezcla que venía de unos Cockers con una raza diminuta, que no estaban seguros si eran "Salchichas", imagínense ustedes eso ¡un Cocker! que es una raza de perros mediana, mezclados con una raza tan pequeña como ¡la salchicha! 😅😅

Before Poly arrived at the house I was clear with my brother, I was very scared because of the passing of my previous puppy, so I told him that he was going to make sure she had everything she needed and was in strict control with her vet if she was going to bring a new one to the house.
So a few weeks after she arrived, we took her to the vet, dewormed her and gave her her first doses of vaccines, the vet told us something very funny, he didn't know how big she was going to grow to because she was 3 months old at the time, she was small and also he didn't know what genetic mix she had, since Poly is a mixed breed and she was given to us for adoption.
My brother and I laughed because her mom looks like a "Cocker Spaniel" mix with many other breeds, but we had been told that her mom's parents had a mix that came from some Cockers with a tiny breed, that they weren't sure if they were "Dachshunds", imagine that a Cocker! which is a medium dog breed, mixed with a breed as small as Dachshund! 😅😅
Arriba les adjunto un video que tenemos de Poly con su hermanita cuando estaban pequeñas con su mamá, para ver si me ayudan a descifrar; el asunto es que yo en búsqueda de saber hasta qué tamaño crecería Poly me puse a investigar y encontré una App (de la que después les voy a hablar) donde te dicen qué tipo de raza es o que probable ascendencia tiene tu mascota.
El resultado que me arrojó fue una raza Mestiza y me dijeron unas probables ascendencias, como les digo, en el próximo post les hablo de cómo lo supe y las razas. El punto es que nos dio risa que ni siquiera el veterinario pudiera darnos seguridad de su crecimiento, pero nos dio recomendaciones generales de su cuidado en forma general porque nunca habíamos tenido una raza de perros pequeña en la casa.
Les cuento que yo estaba feliz por tener una perrita de nuevo, pero la felicidad de mi hermano era de otro nivel, lo cual me demostró cuando poco a poco iba llegando a la casa con más y más regalos para Poly. Hace poco dije: "ok Poly va a terminar teniendo más artículos de higiene y cuidado personal que yo" y no miento, no ha parado de comprarles cosas y les vengo a contar algunas de ellas.
Como les he mostrado en los post anteriores, verán que Poly ha pasado de tener solo una correa, a tener múltiples tipos para sacarla a pasear, juguetes heredados de mis sobrinitos y de nosotros mismos, así como múltiples alfombras para descansar en cada lado de la casa 😅.

The result it gave me was a Mestizo breed and they told me some probable ancestry, as I tell you, in the next post I will tell you how I found out and the breeds. The point is that it made us laugh that even the vet could not give us certainty of their growth, but gave us general recommendations for their care in a general way because we had never had a small breed of dogs in the house.
I was happy to have a puppy again, but my brother's happiness was on another level, which he showed me when little by little he was arriving home with more and more gifts for Poly. I recently said "ok Poly is going to end up having more hygiene and grooming items than me" and I'm not lying, he hasn't stopped buying them things and I'm here to tell you about some of them.
As I have shown you in the previous posts, you will see that Poly has gone from having only one leash, to having multiple types to take her for walks, toys inherited from my little nephews and ourselves, as well as multiple mats to rest on each side of the house 😅.
Cuando por fin fuimos a darle su primer baño, que fue después de vacunarla, compramos un champú, pero sentimos que no hizo suficiente espuma y no olía a nada, recuerdo siempre un champú de un olor a chicle que teníamos para nuestro primer perro y me trae lindos recuerdos.
Por supuesto era muy joven para entender que esos olores son muy fuertes para animales que tienen un olfato tan desarrollado. Así que no buscábamos un olor así, pero al menos uno que tuviera un olor suave y este no lo tenía, por lo que volvimos a la tienda para que en su segundo baño tuviera un producto que le dejara el pelo más suave y que oliera bien.
En la ida a la tienda conseguimos este "Enjuague" que verán abajo y nos gustó, el olor no era para nada fuerte, pero lo que más nos impresionó fue lo brillante y suave que le dejó el Pelo a nuestra querida Poly. Me dio risa porque ¡yo ni sabía que habían enjuagues para el pelo de los perros! 🙃.
Nuestros perros en el pasado todos han sido de pelo corto y solo usábamos un champú sin muchas complicaciones porque realmente su pelo no ameritaba mucho cuidado, pero Poly es diferente porque tiene un pelaje un poco largo y se nota bastante cuando no tiene brillo y está seco, así que nos enfocamos en eso esta vez y hasta un cepillo especial le compramos.
When we finally went to give her her first bath, which was after vaccinating her, we bought a shampoo, but we felt it didn't lather enough and didn't smell like anything, I always remember a shampoo with a bubble gum smell that we had for our first dog and it brings back nice memories.
Of course I was too young to understand that those smells are very strong for animals that have such a developed sense of smell. So we weren't looking for a scent like that, but at least one that had a mild scent and this one didn't, so we went back to the store so that for his second bath he would have a product that would leave his coat softer and smell nice.
On the way to the store we got this "Rinse" that you will see below and we liked it, the smell was not strong at all, but what impressed us the most was how shiny and soft it left our dear Poly's hair. It made me laugh because I didn't even know there were dog hair rinses! 🙃.
Our dogs in the past have all been short haired and we just used a shampoo without much hassle because really their hair didn't warrant much care, but Poly is different because she has a bit of a long coat and it's quite noticeable when it's dull and dry, so we focused on that this time and even bought her a special brush.
Ya habíamos resuelto ese problema, pero teníamos uno más grave, Poly se orinaba en todos lados, típico de los perros pequeños. Recuerdo que siempre con nuestros perros anteriores usábamos periódicos para que orinaran en el mismo lugar y dejábamos el periódico en ese mismo sitio y así ellos olerían el lugar y siempre lo harían ahí.
No sé si solo sucede aquí en Venezuela, pero hace un tiempo no vemos medios impresos por aquí, en mi casa se dejó de comprar periódicos desde hace mucho tiempo, así que me acordé de los centros de cama que usan para que los adultos mayores que usan pañal no mojen las camas y pensé irlos a comprar para ponerlos en un lugar y que Poly supiera donde siempre orinar.
Al ir a la tienda me impresionó encontrar estos "Tapetes" para mascotas, los había visto en otros lugares, pero en Venezuela no en realidad, así que compramos un paquete para probar con Poly. El producto es bueno, es de calidad, incluso lo importan de Italia 🙃, aunque no es nada costo, pero, pues, nuestra amada hija perruna no quiere saber nada de esos tapetes, le da igual dónde esté y cada vez que lo ve lo que hace es caerles a mordiscos para sacarle todo el algodón que tienen por dentro o acostarse sobre él, es una historia muy triste de ver 🥹.
Mi papá y yo hemos tomado cartas en el asunto y como él es el que más temprano se levanta, en la mañana la saca y pasea con ella un rato en el patio y en el techo de mi casa donde hay un espacio muy grande en donde ella camina y juega, así que la acompaña un rato para que haga sus necesidades fisiológicas matutinas 🫣.
We had already solved that problem, but we had a more serious one, Poly would pee everywhere, typical of small dogs. I remember that always with our previous dogs we used newspapers so that they would urinate in the same place and we would leave the newspaper in that same place and that way they would smell the place and they would always do it there.
I don't know if it only happens here in Venezuela, but we haven't seen printed media around here for a while, in my house we stopped buying newspapers a long time ago, so I remembered the bed centers they use for the older adults who use diapers so they don't wet the beds and I thought I would go buy them to put them in a place so Poly would know where to always pee.
When I went to the store I was impressed to find these "Mats" for pets, I had seen them in other places, but not really in Venezuela, so we bought a package to try with Poly. The product is good, it is of quality, they even import it from Italy 🙃, although it is not expensive at all, but, well, our beloved doggy daughter doesn't want anything to do with those mats, she doesn't care where she is and every time she sees it what she does is to bite them to take out all the cotton they have inside or lie on it, it is a very sad story to see 🥹.
My dad and I have taken matters into our own hands and since he is the one who gets up the earliest, in the morning he takes her out and walks with her for a while in the yard and on the roof of my house where there is a very large space where she walks and plays, so he accompanies her for a while to do her morning physiological needs 🥹.
Así que, en las mañanas todo bien, pero en las tardes y las noches después de 3 meses sigue siendo un poco desastroso el asunto, en las tardes muchas veces va al patio, pero si no quiere, solo usa el cuarto de mi mamá como su baño 🫠, es un proceso difícil, pero al menos ahora lo hace con menor frecuencia y mi mamá ya no la odia tanto 🥹 ¿Qué pasó con los tapetes importados de Italia? Los tenemos ahí, se lo ponemos en su caja donde duerme en la noche, por si quiere usarlos y el resto sólo hace fiesta de algodón con ellos y sus juguetes 🫠.
Pensé que esos tapetes para perro tenían un olor especial que los ayudaba a distinguir que era un lugar para que hicieran sus necesidades fisiológicas, pero no es así, no sé si existirán de esos, pero me encantaría tener unos así, si saben de algunos en Venezuela ¡les agradezco la recomendación! 🙏🏼 o si me pueden dar recomendaciones para lograr que no haga sus necesidades dentro de la casa ¡se los agradecería un montón! porque nuestra casa es a lo largo y ancho un total un baño para nuestra adorada Poly 🙃.
Por otro lado, cuando llegó intentamos comprarle una correa, pero todas las que veíamos le quedaban grandes, le conseguimos hace un mes, una hermosa rosada con dibujos de perritos, le guindaba un cascabelito bien cómico que nos avisaba cuando Poly andaba por ahí, dicho cascabel duró como 1 semana, no sabemos qué sucedió después con él 🥲.
So, in the mornings all fine, but in the afternoons and nights after 3 months it's still a bit of a disaster, in the afternoons she often goes to the yard, but if she doesn't want to, she just uses my mom's room as her bathroom 🫠, it's a difficult process, but at least now she does it less often and my mom doesn't hate it so much anymore 🥹 What happened to the rugs imported from Italy? We have them there, we put it in her crate where she sleeps at night, in case she wants to use them and the rest she just has cotton party with them and her toys 🫠.
I thought those dog mats had a special smell that helped them to distinguish that it was a place for them to do their physiological needs, but it's not like that, I don't know if they will exist of those, but I would love to have some like that, if you know of some in Venezuela I thank you for the recommendation! 🙏🏼 or if you can give me recommendations to get him not to do his needs inside the house I would appreciate it a lot! because our house is a total bathroom for our beloved Poly 🙃.
On the other hand, when he arrived we tried to buy him a leash, but all the ones we saw were too big for him, we got him a month ago, a beautiful pink one with drawings of dogs, he had a funny little bell that warned us when Poly was around, this bell lasted about 1 week, we don't know what happened with him 🥲.
Hace poco mi hermano quiso llevarla a la playa y le compró una "Pechera" así le decimos aquí a las correas que se amarran en el tórax de los perros para poder llevarlos a pasear con su correa, es la morada que sale en la foto de la cesta del inicio con dibujos de patitas blancas, ¡bien linda! por cierto, dicha pechera se la pusimos una vez y le quedaba grande, así que solo nos quedamos con la correa para sostenerla.
¿Qué pasó con la pechera? ¡No tenemos idea! 🙃 un día se la quitamos en un lugar ella empezó a jugar con ella y luego desapareció, Poly se sentía incómoda con ella, algo nos hace pensar que la agarró y se deshizo de ella en el patio o está en algún lugar de esta casa escondida, al menos nos quedó la correa con que mi hermano pudo llevarla a la playa la semana antepasada usando la otra correa 🥲.
¿Cómo le fue en su primer día de playa? Por las fotos creerán que bien ¡Sale hermosa! mi hermano iba todo emocionado por llevar a su hija perruna a la playa, no contó ¡con que se la pasaría todo el rato queriendo correr detrás de los niños para morderles los talones! y ¡ladrarle a todo el que pasara cerca de ella! mi hermano me dijo que se estaba pareciendo mucho a mí, que no le gustó la playa, le tuvo miedo al agua, no quiso socializar con nadie, parecía tener mucho calor porque solo bebió agua y no quiso comer ¿Será verdad? 🫠 ¡Confirmo! ¡Sí se parece a mí! 🥹.
Recently my brother wanted to take her to the beach and bought her a "Pechera" that's what we call here to the leashes that are tied on the thorax of the dogs to take them for a walk with their leash, it is the purple one that is in the picture of the basket at the beginning with drawings of white paws, nice! by the way, we put it on her once and it was too big for her, so we only kept the leash to hold her.
What happened to the breastplate, we have no idea! 🙃 one day we took it off her in one place she started playing with it and then it disappeared, Poly was uncomfortable with it, something makes us think she grabbed it and got rid of it in the yard or it's somewhere in this house hidden, at least we were left with the leash my brother was able to take her to the beach the week before last using the other leash 🥲.
How did she do on her first day at the beach? From the pictures you'll think it went well! She looks beautiful! my brother was all excited to take his doggy daughter to the beach, he didn't count on her spending the whole time wanting to run after the kids to bite their heels! and bark at everyone who passed near her! my brother told me she was becoming a lot like me, she didn't like the beach, she was afraid of the water, she didn't want to socialize with anyone, she seemed to be too hot because she only drank water and didn't want to eat, could it be true? 🫠 I confirm, he does look like me! 🥹.
Poly cuando no estoy trabajando pasa la mayor parte del tiempo en mi cuarto, se ha convertido en mi hija casi, se adueñó de mi sofá, de mi alfombra, me ha destruido casi todos los pantalones de los pijamas y apenas me ve despertarme en la mañana corre a jugar conmigo, cuando llego de trabajar la abrazo y hace sonidos como si intentara contarme chismes de lo que le hicieron en la tarde mientras no estuve ¿Qué me dice? ¡No lo sé! pero ¡le creo! ella solo me cuenta verdades de las maldades que le hacen mi mamá y mi papá 🤭.
La semana que viene le toca su otra dosis de vacunas y veremos si el veterinario nos ayuda a dilucidar cuánto crecerá, aunque ya tenemos una foto de un hermano que ya tiene un año y si es largo y bajito como un "Salchicha" pero con el pelaje del "Cocker Spaniel", se los adjunto para que se rían un rato conmigo por esa mezcla tan extraña.
Por ahora me despido, ya luego vendré con nuevas anécdotas que contarles de nuestra convivencia con Poly y dilucidar si en verdad es una mezcla de Spitz Japonés, Bichon Frisé, Cocker Spaniel Ingles y Border Collie 🙃, como me dijo la App que les mostraré próximamente.
Poly when I am not working she spends most of the time in my room, she has become my daughter almost, she took over my sofa, my carpet, she has destroyed almost all my pajama pants and as soon as she sees me wake up in the morning she runs to play with me, when I come home from work I hug her and she makes sounds as if she is trying to tell me gossip about what they did to her in the afternoon while I was gone, what does she tell me? Next week she will have her other dose of vaccines and we will see if the vet helps us to elucidate how much she will grow, although we already have a picture of a brother who is already a year old and if he is long and short like a "Dachshund" but with the coat of the "Cocker Spaniel", I attach them so you can laugh a while with me for that strange mixture.
