Es un reptil pequeño, cuerpo alargado, con cuatro patas y una cola muy larga, que puede regenerar cuando la pierde; es huidizo, se alimenta de todo tipos de animales invertebrados. Su tiempo de vida oscila entre los tres y los cinco años tal ves más, pero la gran parte de ellos los pasan hibernando en las cuevas o grietas donde habitan ya que normalmente viven entre los escombros y en los huecos de las paredes. No obstante, si el día es soleado, pueden salir a tomar el sol o incluso capturar algún insecto si es que los hay para esto tienen que camuflahearse al descansar sobre una roca al aire libre, ya que se exponen al riesgo de ser presas fáciles de las aves que sobrevuelan el cielo buscando alimento.

Las lagartijas son ovíparas, comúnmente se instalan en las cornisas de los hogares para hacer sus nidos, en los que colocan hasta una docena de huevos que pronto se convierten en nuevos huéspedes, tambien suelen hacerlo escondiendolos debajo de hojas secas.
A lo largo de los años he tenido muchas igconitas con lo que a este pequeño animal respecta, ya que hay personas que dicen que es un ánimal, de muy buena suerte, muy indefenso que se dedica a comerse los inceptos de la casa tales como moscas, arañas, grillos, chiripas, cucarachas y ciempies; Por otro lado hay personas que afirman que estos animales son venenosos y son causantes de enfermedades peligrosas como por ejemplo: la salmonella.

La respuesta es muy sencilla, los animales no se pueden evitar, las lagartijas, como cualquier otro animal, buscan lugares donde saben que pueden encontrar comida.
Al mudarme con mi tía Dulcinella, lo primero que noté enseguida fue la presencia de estos animales por toda la casa, ya que mi dulce tía tiene es fanática de tener muchas plantas de todo tipo y eso hizo que se reproducieran en cantidades industriales según mi parecer o tal vez solo sea porque por aquí un río, bueno total es que al principio me pareció un poco aterrador por el ruido que producen cuando estan agarrándose, y se merodean por las paredes tanto así que tuve que tapar todos los posibles huecos por donde creí que pasaban, total es que igual siguen pasando pero no tanto como antes y en parte me gusta que pasen de vez en cuando porque prefiero tener un par de lagartijas de esas en mi habitación que una cucarachas, porque de verdad que tengo una gran fobia a las cucarachas y pienso que a lo mejor teniendo a la lagartija es como un protector anticucarachas y también ante los ciempies que son muy peligrosos, por ese lado recibo alivio, pero no me agrada la parte de las enfermedades por eso estoy muy atenta y a veces las mató cuando las veo por el área de la cocina.

When I moved in with my aunt Dulcinella, the first thing I immediately noticed was the presence of these animals throughout the house, since my sweet aunt is a fan of having many plants of all kinds and that caused them to reproduce in industrial quantities in my opinion or maybe it's just because there is a river around here, well, at first it seemed a bit scary because of the noise they make when they hold on, and they hang around the walls so much that I had to cover all the possible holes where I thought what happened, the whole thing is that they still happen but not as much as before and partly I like that they happen from time to time because I prefer to have a couple of those lizards in my room than a cockroach, because I really have a great phobia cockroaches and I think that maybe having the lizard is like a protection against cockroaches and also against centipedes that are very dangerous, on that side I get relief, but I don't like the disease part that's why I'm very attentive and sometimes they kill them when I see them around the kitchen area.
Ahora quisiera y me gustaría saber su opinión y que me recomiendan hacer al respecto, ya que prácticamente estoy rodeada de estas lagartijas y de verdad nose si considerarlas como amigas o enemigas.
