Ayer fui invitado por @actioncats a su programa de radio para hablar de mi experiencia con mis gatas. Nunca había tenido gatos en mi vida, siempre tuve perros. Como vivo en el campo, también tuve vacas, caballos, conejos, gallinas y hasta cerdos. Pero el año pasado, cuando nos mudamos a Guadalajara por unos meses, adoptamos una gatita llamada Kiba. Esta es su historia.
Yesterday I was invited by @actioncats to their radio show to talk about my experience with my cats. I had never had cats in my life. I always had dogs. Since I live in the country, I also had cows, horses, rabbits, chickens, and even pigs. But last year, when we moved to Guadalajara for a few months, we adopted a kitten named Kiba. This is her story.
Nos mudamos a Guadalajara con la idea de trabajar y vivir allí mucho tiempo. Nos mudamos con Jade, que es la hermana de @grisvisa. Ella es una persona muy compleja, pero ese no es el tema de este post. En la misma casa vivía Marina, amiga de Jade desde hace mucho tiempo. We moved to Guadalajara with the idea of working and living there for a long time. We moved in with Jade, who is @grisvisa's sister. She is a very complex person, but that is not the subject of this post. In the same house lived Marina, Jade's long-time friend. She is a photographer, activist, graphic designer, gamer, and cat lover. She is currently on HIVE but hasn't started posting. Her account is @marpolaris.

Marina tiene muchos amigos en Guadalajara, y ellos saben que le encantan los gatos. Un día un amigo la llamó y le preguntó si podía cuidar de una gata callejera que había llegado a su casa unos días antes. Su amigo no iba a poder hacerse cargo de la gata porque ya tenía suficientes mascotas. Marina tiene buen corazón y me convenció para que visitara a su amigo y conociera a la gata.
Marina has many friends in Guadalajara, and they know she loves cats. One day a friend called her and asked if she could take care of a stray cat that had arrived at her house a few days before. Her friend was not going to take care of the cat because he already had enough pets. Marina has a good heart and convinced me to visit her friend and meet the cat.
Nuestra primera impresión es que la gata era pequeña, y pensamos que todavía era joven. Vimos un pequeño bulto en el vientre de la gata, pero supusimos que tenía parásitos. A estas alturas, ya se habrán imaginado. Estaba embarazada. La llevamos al veterinario para confirmarlo y luego a una ecografía para calcular cuántos gatitos iba a traer esta gatita al mundo. Era un embarazo de gata adolescente.
Our first impression was that the cat was small, and we thought she was still young. We saw a small lump on the cat's belly but assumed she had parasites. By now, you might have guessed. She was pregnant. We took her to the vet to confirm and then to an ultrasound to figure out how many kittens this kitten would bring into the world. It was a teenage cat pregnancy.
Fueron cuatro gatitos y la idea era darlos en adopción. Pero para hacer la historia corta, no pudimos hacerlo. La culpa la tiene Marina, que es una amante de los gatos y se enamoró de ellos. Decidimos ponerle Kiba porque tenía un colmillo salido. Kiba quiere decir colmillo en japonés.
There were four kittens, and the idea was to put them up for adoption. But to make a long story short, we couldn't do it. It was Marina's fault, she is a cat lover and fell in love with cats. We decided to name him Kiba because he had a fang out. Kiba means fang in Japanese.
Después de unos meses en Guadalajara, decidimos volver a nuestra ciudad. Optamos por traer a Kiba y a la única gata de la manada. La llamamos "La Wera". Marina se quedó con los tres gatitos machos. Ella ya tenía un gata adulta llamada Mikan.
After a few months in Guadalajara, we decided to return to our city. We decided to bring Kiba and the only female cat in the herd. We named her "La Wera." Marina stayed with the three male kittens. She already had an adult cat named Mikan.
Kiba y "La Wera" son buenas gatas. Les gusta jugar, atrapar moscas y otros tipos de insectos. Kiba es muy tranquila y no hace mucho ruido a menos de que tenga hambre. En cambio, "La Wera" es muy ruidosa. Llora mucho, por todo y sin razón. Creo que están contentas con nosotros. Hasta ahora, me ha gustado la experiencia de tener gatas. Son más independientes que los perros, hay cosas que no me gustan, pero casi todas son positivas.
Kiba and "La Wera" are good cats. They like to play, catch flies and other kinds of insects. Kiba is very quiet and doesn't make much noise unless she is hungry. On the other hand, "La Wera" is very noisy. She cries a lot about everything and for no reason. I think they are happy with us. So far, I have liked the experience of having cats. They are more independent than dogs, there are things I don't like, but almost all of them are positive.
