Mi papá me había comentado que un señor amigo de él se había ido del país y que su hermana estaba cuidando el hogar de el en Venezuela, que ahí tenía 8 morrocoyes... Pues, para no hacerles la historia muy extensa les diré que se los estaban comiendo los cuidadores de los animales, llamaron a mi papá y a mi de que los fuéramos a buscar porque de los 8 ya solamente quedaban 5
My dad had told me that a friend of his had left the country and that his sister was taking care of his home in Venezuela, that he had 8 morrocoyes there... The animal caretakers were eating them, they called my dad and me to go look for them because of the 8 there were only 5 left
Activos! Para buscar a los morrocoyes, no teníamos más que una carretilla, mi papá hizo todo el trabajo pesado...
Assets! To search for the Morrocoyes, we only had one wheelbarrow, my dad did all the heavy lifting...
Salimos a la calle, el barrio que pertenece a nuestra zona
We went out to the street, the neighborhood that belongs to our area
Llegamos a la casa
We got to the house
Entramos al patio trasero y los metimos a la carretilla poco a poco
We went into the backyard and put them in the wheelbarrow little by little
Nos iban a dar 4, el más grande se lo querían quedar, mi papá insistió en llevárselos todos y finalmente no los dieron

Nos dieron una especie de jaula y así estaban mejor protegidos en el trayecto

Llegamos al terreno nuevamente

Los bañamos antes de llevarlos al corral con los demás

Estaban asustados, no entendían nada, solo se quedaron quietos y yo pensaba "Ya pronto pasará la locura..."

Finalmente poco a poco los colocamos dentro del corral

Los morrocoys nuevos estuvieron caminando mucho, daban vueltas conociendo el espacio y también se acercaban cuidadosamente hacia mi

Estoy aliviada de que estén aquí, trato de cuidarlos con todo lo que tengo, dentro de mis capacidades... Los alimento con las plantas del espacio

Hay personas que tienen por costumbre comer a estos animales en sopas o pasteles, sobre todo en la zona selvática y llanera de Venezuela. Los matan cruelmente, le clavan un cuchillo directo en el rostro... Además de la crueldad, yo no pienso que deban comérselos, no estoy de acuerdo con ésta tradición ya que los animales sufren mucho y además nos estaríamos comiendo a unas criaturas que se comen su propia caca, lo cuál me parece asqueroso!
There are people who have the habit of eating these animals in soups or cakes, especially in the jungle and plains area of Venezuela. They kill them cruelly, they stick a knife directly in their faces ... Besides the cruelty, I don't think they should eat them, I don't agree with this tradition since animals suffer a lot and we would also be eating some creatures that are They eat their own poop, which I find disgusting!
