Amigos Hivers, como ya les he contado en otras oportunidades soy mamá canina y siempre que voy a viajar me llevo a mi perra Canela a todos lados. Es por esto que hoy quiero compartirles algunos tips que he aprendido a lo largo de mis viajes con Canela.
1-. No le des comida.
Ni antes de salir ni en el viaje en sí. Ellos suelen ser sensibles a los movimientos del carro y pueden marearse y vomitar, así que para evitar esto es mejor no darles comida antes del viaje. Lo que yo siempre hago es que como generalmente viajo muy temprano, no le doy desayuno, sino que cuando lleguemos a nuestro destino le doy su comida.
2-. No le des mucha agua
Con el agua sucede lo mismo que en el tip anterior, si le das mucha agua, por los movimientos del carro y peor aun, como no tiene nada en el estómago, puede vomitar más fácilmente. Lo que yo hago es que si el viaje es de más de 3 horas, hago una parada, la bajo del carro le doy agua y hago caminar un poco para que no se "embuche".
3-. Nunca lleves a tu perro en el asiento de adelante
Es peligroso porque un perro es un animal y nunca sabes la reacción que pueda tener. Podría asustarse por algo y entorpecer al conductor e imagínate lo que podría pasar si el conductor del auto se ve perjudicado.
4-. Si el viaje es muy largo, haz paradas.
Las paradas son buenas para nosotros estirar las piernas y también son buenas para los perros para que se relajen, ya que el hecho de estar en un carro suele ser razón de ansiedad para algunos perritos. En mi caso, Canela ha viajado conmigo desde que estaba cachorra y ella es muy tranquila en los viajes, afortunadamente.
5-. Siéntalo atrás.
En mi caso le coloco a Canela su camita y ella duerme casi toda la carretera. Sin embargo, a veces suele salirse de su cama y acostarse en el asiento directamente, o si alguien más va en el asiento, se acuesta al lado o sobre el que vaya en ese asiento jajaja. Lo más ideal es que vaya con cinturón de seguridad, pero ella nunca se lo ha dejado poner, si tu perro se deja poner el cinturón, sería maravilloso.
Y listo... Estos son algunos de los tips que yo aplico para tener un viaje amena con mi perra. En términos generales ella se porta muy bien, duerme casi todo el viaje, pero su parte favorita es cuando hacemos paradas y puede hacer sus necesidades y además oler y conocer un lugar nuevo, se emociona mucho.

1-. Don't give him food.

They are usually sensitive to the movements of the car and can become dizzy and vomit, so to avoid this it is better not to give them food before the trip. What I always do is that since I usually travel very early, I don't give him breakfast, but when we get to our destination I give him his food.
2-. Don't give her a lot of water
The same thing happens with water as in the previous tip, if you give it a lot of water, due to the movements of the car and even worse, since it has nothing in its stomach, it can vomit more easily. What I do is that if the trip is longer than 3 hours, I make a stop, get her off the car, give her water and walk a little so she doesn't get "stuffed".
3-. Never take your dog in the front seat
It is dangerous because a dog is an animal and you never know the reaction it may have. You could be frightened by something and hinder the driver, and imagine what could happen if the driver of the car is harmed.
4-. If the trip is very long, make stops.
Stops are good for us to stretch our legs and are also good for dogs to relax, since being in a car is often a reason for anxiety for some puppies. In my case, Canela has traveled with me since she was a puppy and she is very calm when traveling, fortunately.
5-. Feel it back.
In my case, I put Canela in her little bed and she sleeps most of the road. However, sometimes he tends to get out of bed and lie on the seat directly, or if someone else is in the seat, he will lie next to or on top of whoever is in that seat hahaha. Ideally, she should wear a seatbelt, but she has never let it be put on, if your dog lets it be put on, that would be wonderful.
And voila... These are some of the tips that I apply to have a pleasant trip with my dog. In general terms, she behaves very well, she sleeps most of the trip, but her favorite part is when we make stops and she can relieve herself and also smell and know a new place, she gets very excited.
