Ya les habíamos contados que en casa tenemos unos conejillos de indias como compañía y han visto sus fotografías. Hace una semana nos dimos cuenta que la hembra, que aun veíamos como una beba, estaba engordando y su hambre era insaciable. Observamos sus mamas y estaban bastante grandes lo que nos llevó a pensar que ¡Estaba embarazada!
We had already told you that at home we have some guinea pigs for company and you have seen their pictures. A week ago we noticed that the female, which we still saw as a baby, was getting fat and her hunger was insatiable. We looked at her breasts and they were quite large which led us to think that she was pregnant!
Tal vez como muchos dicen es algo común para este tipo de animales con una alta tasa reproductiva, pero para nosotros es una novedad que nos emociona. Tener una amiga veterinaria ha sido una bendición porque ella nos lleva todas las ideas y los examina siempre que nos visita, pero esta vez la llevó a su consultorio y le hizo una ecografía.
Maybe as many say it is something common for this type of animals with a high reproductive rate, but for us it is a novelty that excites us. Having a veterinarian friend has been a blessing because she brings us all the ideas and examines them whenever she visits us, but this time she took her to her office and did an ultrasound.
El niño estaba super emocionado, es nuestra primera mascota en casa. Y sucedió, vimos las imágenes de los nuevos integrantes, al parecer son 3. No puedo negar que me emocioné al ver su columna y esos tres corazones latir tan rápido. Al medir uno de ellos, ya su región cefálica está cercana a los 2 cm.
The boy was super excited, he is our first pet at home. And it happened, we saw the pictures of the new members, apparently there are 3. I can't deny that I was excited to see his spine and those three hearts beating so fast. As I measured one of them, his cephalic region is already close to 2 cm.
Los tres – si es que no hay otro más- se mostraban activos y fuertes. La barriga de Curimar se veía muy grande y cada semana crece más. Luego de la ecografía limpiamos su abdomen en señal de respeto y la dejamos tranquila pues sabemos que no estaba cómoda con la posición.
All three - if not another one - were active and strong. Curimar's belly looked very big and is growing bigger every week. After the ultrasound we cleaned her abdomen as a sign of respect and left her alone as we know she was not comfortable with the position.
En casa nunca habíamos tenido mascotas, pero es impresionante como te involucras con ellas luego de que llegan. A Curimar la separamos de Álvaro, su pareja porque este la rechaza y puede causarle alguna incomodidad. Estamos en la dulce espera y no vemos el día de que lleguen esos nuevos cobayitos, más nos angustia que como dicen muchos el primer parto no llegue a término.
At home we had never had pets before, but it is amazing how you get involved with them after they arrive. We separated Curimar from Álvaro, her partner, because he rejects her and may cause her some discomfort. We are in the sweet wait and we do not see the day when these new guinea pigs will arrive, but we are anxious that, as many say, the first delivery will not come to term.
Los animales son esa pequeña muestra de la perfección de la naturaleza, mirar sus ojos, ver como su embarazo la hace acostarse más o que sea más reacia a salir de su cajita nos dice que protege a su cría. Como mamífera, los alimentará y cuidará hasta que ya estén fuertes.
Animals are that small sample of nature's perfection, looking at her eyes, seeing how her pregnancy makes her lie down more or that she is more reluctant to leave her little box tells us that she is protecting her baby. As a mammal, she will feed and care for them until they are strong.
Ya les contaré cómo será el parto ¡Si logramos verlo! Y las fotografías de los cobayitos, mientras nos disfrutamos este embarazo que ha llenado de cuidados, ilusiones y ternura nuestro hogar… ¡Estamos viviendo un momento genial en casa!
