Privacy can be obtained to the extent that all the points of a network can be. In order for data to get from point A to Point B, it has to go through servers, devices, routers, modems, access point devices, computers, etc. Encryption can attempt at hiding the content of the traffic. But keep in mind that the NSA and others will mirror or copy as much Internet traffic as they can including encrypted traffic. They may not always be able decrypt or read what they have, but that doesn't mean they will never ever. They try to hold onto as much data as they can with the intent to look at it someday if need be. Of course, they can't digest most of what they wiretap from Americans and also people globally too. But they try to still hold onto the data just in case they can or want to someday. Some of it they can use as blackmail. To an extent, people do try to make things as private as possible via encryption, etc. Privacy is like an umbrella. But the Internet is like a series of rivers, lakes, streams, creaks, ponds, cups, wells, and oceans, meaning that there may not always be umbrellas for every part of the waterway, the Internet. Water is like data as it can run around and it can be hard to keep track of where the data is. But a water molecule can escape a lake and leak into a river. I use Proton Mail and it uses end to end encryption. So, that can keep the emails private to an extent, I mean private from some people but that does not mean the NSA is not creating a prism of the encrypted emails. If I send a message from my computer through an Ethernet cable into a router and then through another Ethernet cable into your computer for example, which would be a small version of the Internet or a network, privacy depends on all the devices and the programs in that network, that is, 2 computers, 2 Ethernet cables, and 1 router, assuming all of these parts are not connected to the world wide web or other networks and assuming there is no remote access or viruses or spy apps, etc, etc, on the router or the 2 computers, assuming these are all the parts of a small network like that. It is said that the NSA and others have servers and other devices in the backbone of the Internet, that they have programs on these servers, devices, etc, that most Internet traffic ends up funneling through these servers, these data centers, etc. In other words, they're literally scanning and copying data in live-time as data goes through their data centers, servers, etc. But that assuming there are no spy chips on your computer. When I say spy chip, I don't mean spy programs. When I say spy chip, I mean hardware and not software. That is an example, which may be software put on spy chip hardware. I would want to find motherboards that advertise that they have no spy chips on them. You can open up your phone or computer to look for spy chips or anything that may not belong. That is why I use Ubuntu, because open source. Well, technically, Apple is controlled by China just like Microsoft is. # Gab One step at a time. Gab is part of the puzzle. It is not the bottom part, but it is a factor. # China Yes, China is everything to the extent people let them be. Corporatism has been led that direction, gradually. Instead of emphasizing on privacy, I'm more interested in making sure that content I publish to the Internet stays there unremoved, unedited, mirrored, copied, backed, everywhere or as many places as possible via cryptographic blockchains, Bit Torrent, IPFS, peer to peer (P2P), ad-hoc, etc, etc. ___ ___ ___
