The Theatre Is A Fascinating Place

The theatre! A fascinating place to be Indeed.

Someone might wonder where exactly is this theatre that I'm saying it's a fascinating place to be despite the current hardship people are passing through, so where exactly is a theatre?

An operating theater (also known as an Operating Room, operating suite, operation suite, or Operation Theatre) is a facility within a hospital where surgical operations are carried out in an aseptic environment.

According to here

Oh yep, I didn't mean the theatre for dramas, heheh.. well, it might also be a fascinating place to be anyway but for today, let's explore the Hospital Operating Theatre.

As a medical student, my life is entwined with the theatre as I definitely would have to visit there atleast once every week for one surgical procedure or another.

Some days, it's really not a good experience but sometimes, it comes out as a great experience and I will be happy I witnessed that.

To me, the theatre is really a fascinating place to be for the following reasons;

A Sterile Place

‌It might not make sense to someone who hasn't been there because the mental picture most persons have about the theatre is blood and then you could question how a place always filled with blood be sterile...

The hospital is among the most sterile place on earth and the reason is very simple.
‌The patient's skin will be opened up and internal organs exposed, this is a great medium for direct transmission of infections, so imagine when proper precautions aren't taken and the patient ends up with de novo infection when you were trying to save him or her and might even die from the secondary infection not from the sickness that lead to the surgery.

‌For an equipment to get into the theatre means it has passed through thorough process of sterilization and handled with other sterilized forceps not even the barehands.
‌isn't it fascinating?

Serene Environment

Where's the calmest place you've ever been to, just name it and I'll tell you it's never comparable to the theatre ,hehe.

When we came to the theatre for the first time 3years ago, we thought it was business as usual and were making noise (that was before the patient was wheeled in though) unknown to us that where we were was a "no noise area".

I can't forget that day because the Operating surgeon came and was surprised where the whole noise was coming from, when he saw it was medical students, he told us all to leave the theatre and that was the end... Ever since then, we learnt our lessons.

Healing Centre

This is indeed the most fascinating thing about the theatre to me...
A place that harbours minds of intellects dancing and creating a beautiful art with their hands whilst reviving health.

Could you imagine the joy that you were having a right iliac pain (which has a differential of appendicitis) and you're wheeled in to the theatre in pains but few minutes after, you are in stitches after appendectomy with no internal pains... You're healed!!!

What greater joy could be bigger than making someone get back to their health... I doubt there's any indeed.

‌It's really a privilege to witness these firsthand honestly.... Even though I haven't made up my mind of specializing in a medicine or surgery unit, I will always visit the theatre for the joy that comes with it.
