When just washing your Hair in a salon becomes a problem ! - My thoughts

A couple of weeks ago, as usual, I was going through posts in @stemsocial, then boom! I stumbled upon this eye-opening blog post by the one and only @eni-ola here in @stemsocial, and let me tell you, the title alone had me squinting my eye with curiosity and a bit of disbelief. ."Beauty Parlor Stroke Syndrome: The Hidden Dangers of Salon Hair Washes" that was the title. .Here is a paper that relate to that.
Now anyone who makes regular visits to the salon would want to read this, if not for anything, but just to make sure, am I save ? . Better the enemy you know than one you don't know right? Trust me this potential health enemy lurking in salons in the form of hair wash and hair pampering is one you definitely want to know. Who said Ignorance is bliss ? well maybe for a while, but in the long run too much bliss, can spell disaster .

Uhm, you see, I don't know about you, and neither am I aware of your Salon expectations or personal business , but when I think of a salon visit, I envision comfy chairs, small talk about weekend plans, and maybe a faint aroma of hair products. But oh no, this post by eni-ola takes you on what could be referred to as a bumpy ride through the unexpected dangers of hair salons, transforming what should be a pampering session into a full-blown potential health issue.

First up, we meet Cheryl Taylor, just your average salon-goer thinking she's about to get a routine hair wash. Little did she know, her salon visit would turn into something that sounds more like an action-packed medical drama. Feeling dizzy, reclining in the chair – normal, right? Wrong. Cheryl's health takes a nosedive, and next thing you know, she's battling a stroke! A stroke! At the salon! I can almost hear the plot twist music playing in the background. It's like the salon transformed from a haven of beauty to an unexpected battleground for our health. This leaves me questioning the very foundations of my hair care routine. These routines need a review at least, just saying. Here is a video of cheryl Taylor narrating her experience 👇

Now this didn't just happen to one person. Meet Adele Burns, now Adele Burns never knew that an innocent trip to the salon would get her burnt health-wise, a nurse who probably thought she had her health game on lock. A simple hairdo ends with a twitch, a stroke the next day, and suddenly, with an unexpected turn of events, and a switch of roles, the salon chair becomes a villain in this unexpected health saga. .Here is her story. And then there's sound engineer Dave Tyler – he just wanted a fresh hairdo, but instead, he ends up with a splitting headache, numbness, and a trip to the brain emergency room. I bet he never thought his hair could be the cause of a medical emergency!

And here's the real kicker – Beauty Parlor Syndrome. Yes, that's a thing. Apparently, back in the '90s, doctors realized that women stretching their heads back for a hair wash were landing themselves in the stroke danger zone Here. Dr. Sarah Jarvis drops the bomb – washing hair comes with risks! Who knew? Stretching backward can damage blood vessels, cause clots, and lead to strokes. Suddenly, I'm rethinking every salon visit I've ever had.

Let be honest here, I never thought that a leisurely head wash could be a potential battlefield for our health, but eni-ola's blog post had me wide-eyed and contemplating the risks of every head maneuver done in a bid to get the right touch of hair pampering. As regard it happening in a salon – well not exactly the script I was expecting. So, next time you're leaning back for that hair wash, remember the cautionary tales of Cheryl, Adele, and Dave. Maybe it's time for a forward-leaning revolution in the world of haircare. Its nice to be aware about this.
