Our Health Matters.... Sensitization and awareness creation goes on.

It's another beautiful day and I'm glad to be alive, well and healthy to give back to the community and I hope everyone here is doing well. As I said in my previous post, we will be visiting some selected number of rural areas to educate them on their health related issues and moreover educate them more on covid19 and how they can prevent themselves from been infected and also how to live good and a healthy life because "You Only Live Once " and that really matters a lot.

For the COVID-19 sensitization and awareness creation (CIAO II), we visited the community in the morning. We employed the door-to-door approach and also reaching out to them in near by farms using the designed questionnaire to assess their knowledge, practice and attitude on covid-19 as well as educate them on it and its preventive measures.

We also probe further to know people who were vaccinated and people who were not and people who were willing and others who were not willing to be vaccinated.

Out of the 81 unvaccinated respondents, 66 of them said they were willing to get vaccinated while the remaining 15 were unwilling to get vaccinated.
The community members seemed to have fair knowledge on Covid-19. Also, their attitude and practice of the covid-19 protocols were generally positive since majority of them practiced them regularly.
A few of them however did not practiced the protocols and also had some misconceptions regarding Covid-19 it’a vaccine . We as volunteers educated them on the importance of practicing the protocols and how important it is that we all do in order for the disease to be a thing of the past so that life can go back to how it used to be. We also helped clear any misconceptions they had regarding Covid-19 and made them understand that the virus is real and only by following the protocols and getting vaccinated can they help protect themselves and their loved ones...We madw it known to them that their healthy is a priority and needs to paid good attention to.
All in all, it has been a wonderful experience as a community health volunteer and going forward, we will be reaching out to other communities and as we believe most of these rural areas needs sensitizations and not only that, but some PPEs(personal protective equipments) to protect themselves of this diseases.
