Charcoal serves as the main source of fuel in my community here at Fiema. In case you don't know, these are I some basic steps involved in charcoal production. I came across this in my community and wish to share with everyone.

Materials
Wood, soil and fresh leaves are the main raw materials used in charcoal burning.
Woods are cut into smaller logs and arrange into a heaps.

The heaps are then covered with fresh leaves to make sure the fire does not goes off or the charcoal is not destroyed by fire.

Cover the gathered woods with leaves and sand and set fire to it while a hole is created for penetration of air and releasing of smoke.
Leave the heaped wood to burn, collapse by itself and the charcoal to be cooled by sand, mostly air and water. As you can see below, it has started collapsing by itself.
