Hello StemSocial Community! Welcome to my blog. Pure water is odourless, Colorless and Crystalline liquid. It is an important component of life. It comprises of 90 % cell part. It is the most drinkable solvent in the world. Due to its two types of bonding including polar covalent bonding and Hydrogen Bonding, it can dissolve about everything.
Water Properties
It occupies about more than 70 % part on Our planet. Either it is Marine or Fresh water, it's both types support life. There are following properties of water that make it more significant.
- High Heat Capacity (4.2 Joules per gram)
- Cohesion (Capillary Action due to its sticky Nature)
- High Heat of Vaporization (540 Cal/g)
- High Surface Tension (72mN/m at 25°C)
- Low Freezing Point (0°C or 32°F)
These all water properties are significant. It can't be ignored when we talk about life. It has big role in the composition of life. Although it is present in excess in our planet but still there are chances of its scarcity due to its unethical use. If water wastage and water pollution should not be prevented then we can face sever adverse effects in the future.
Water Born Diseases
There was a time when surface of water in my region Lahore was safe for health. Everyone easily enjoy it at home through windpipe or Gullet.
Nowadays our water is not safe due to land pollution. It's surface is contaminated with many germs and poisonous materials. Currently following water born diseases are reported and thousands of people are affected.
- Diarrhoea
- Giardiasis
- Typhoid
- Salmonella
- Hepatitis
These all water born diseases are very common and our hospitals are filled with these patients.
Our government unfortunately failed to stop land pollution hence the water surface was affected badly. Now we can't drink water from windpipe hence we have to take it from RO plants or we have to approach Private and government Pure Water Supplies. For pure and healthy water, we have to pay utility bills.
Water Types
Water is a big blessing from God and Nature's beautiful Gift. We all drink it daily but we are still unaware about its types. It has following types.
Tap Water
The water that we get directly from faucet. It can be collected through rivers, lakes, Dams and streams. It is consumed for domesticated purposes. It's raw form is not suitable for drinking purpose.
Spring Water
This water comes through Springs as the name indicates. Springs are underground water stations. It can be or can't be suitable for drinking.
Mineral Water
This water has essential minerals in it. Many water Companies likes Aquafina, Nestles, Mizu etc claimed that they have pure as well as mineral water supply. It is highly recommended water for drinking purpose by doctors because it not only is healthy but also has magnesium, calcium and manganese in it.
Well Water
Well water is one of the traditional water that our forefathers used to get from deep wells. Now, although wells are not available in cities but still there are many rural areas where people still get water from wells and consumed it.
Distilled Water
This water is obtained after Distillation Process. The minerals and salts are removed from it. This water is not recommended for drinking purpose as it lacks essential minerals and salts.
Hard Water
When different chemicals dissolved in water then these chemicals convert it into hard water. It is very toxic for health. It should be converted into soft water for general consumption like for bath, washing and for other household purposes.
Conclusion
If God has gifted free supply of pure water then we should respect it and consume it ethically. Garbages and Industrial waste should not be thrown into the rivers and oceans. It's contamination should be discouraged everywhere in the world. Pure and Healthy water is the need of the body. We should do our best to protect this natural source. It's different types and different properties are very important to understand it's chemistry and need for the life hence I shared some basic information about it that can help you in daily life.
