I know last time I promised to bring you to the other corners of Carbon Public Market. Well, today is the day!
Hello fellow market enthusiasts! It's another #MarketFriday to share another glimpse inside the biggest public market in Cebu City. Are you excited about which portion of the market I'll bring you today! Come along!
Sometime late last year, my boyfriend and I went to Carbon Public Market to buy supplies for our weekend get-together with my closest college bodies. As the "mother" of the group, it's my task to prepare the most delicious homecooked meals for my friends. Of course, to make sure I only cook what they want, they participated in planning what food we'll eat during our weekend staycation. They requested grilled squid, carbonara (I cooked this one from scratch! 😁), chicken adobo, sweet and sour fish, and grilled pork belly to name a few. There were a dozen of us so yeah, it was my first time preparing food for a big group. Although I've cooked for our town's fiesta celebration that same year, I had my father to help me with the shopping and cooking, but this time, I'm also tasked to buy the ingredients.
It's a no-brainer that in events like this, I'd definitely run to Carbon where I could buy almost all my needs. My boyfriend fetched me at the place I'm renting and off we went to Carbon as early as 5:37 AM. The bulk of what we bought that morning was displayed in the wet section of the market; that's the place where the meat including pork, chicken, beef, fish and processed meat products such as chorizo, hotdogs, skinless, longganiza among others are displayed. If you really come to Carbon early you'll witness the heaps of everything you could think of. I've been to Carbon countless times but I'm still amazed every time I return. I always discover new kinds of fish; they could be too colorful on some visits including this one.
In the last photo, you'll see my boyfriend nailing the ingredient preparation. He patiently prepared all the ingredients so I'll only have to focus on cooking. 🥰 And yup, we bought a lot. I forgot to take photos of the big fishes and meat we cooked that weekend. Nonetheless, if you have big upncoming events you'll need ingredients for, Carbon is indeed the place to go!
Have a blast this Friday, fellas!
