Purslane (Portúlac)

My post is for #MarketFriday initiated by @dswigle

Today I will write about purslane "weed".
Purslane is a wild plant, but it is also grown.

This plant has been used for a very long time as a medicinal and eaten.

For example, in Russia, many years ago, its leaves were used as
wound healing.
And with the bites of poisonous snakes and insects as an antitoxic agent.
And also used an infusion of purslane for rinsing with inflammation of the gums.
Purslane contains many proteins and trace elements.
He's very helpful!
Purslane has a slightly pungent, sour taste.
It is consumed fresh, and also salted for the winter and pickled.
I have not tried the salted and pickled Purslane, I use it fresh for salad.

In Cyprus, salad with this herb is very popular.

By the way, in Cyprus, Purslane is more expensive than parsley, dill, rocca, cilantro and so on.
The cost of 1 bundle of Purslane is from 40 cent to 75 cent (Euro).

In addition to being consumed in food, Purslane is sold as a potted plant during the flowering period.
Beautiful, isn't it?
Purslane is an annual plant, so after buying it in bloom, after flowering, I used it for salad :-)
