Market Friday - Choose Seafood and Have It Cooked!

So I went for a short staycation with my friend by the seaside at Avani Sepang. After the sunset, then we were slowly googling up some places nearby for dinner.

For #marketfriday, let's go to a simple Malay seafood restaurant called Restaurant Terapung (Floating Restaurant in Malay) H.M. Bagan Seafood in Bagan Lalang, Malaysia.

This restaurant is just 1.2km away from our resort and it only took us 5 minutes to drive there. It had some good reviews from Google so we thought just give it a try.

When we reached, the staff ushered us to choose a table and then led us to another area behind the dining area to choose our seafood.

There were all sorts of local seafood. I spotted some clams, bamboo clams, squid, crabs, prawns and also a variety of fishes.

They do look fresh. The price of the different seafood is displayed on a board.

They also asked us how we wanted to have the different seafood cooked. We can choose to fry them, deep fry them, steam, grill or boil. For the different ways of cooking, we can even opt to cook them spicy or not spicy. My friend cannot take spicy food so we opted all to be non-spicy.

While waiting for the seafood to be cooked, we ordered coconut drinks.

Considering to have a vegetable dish as well, we ordered the Kailan vegetable stir fried with salted fish. It was very tasty.

Here comes all our seafood!

This is deep fried squid battered with flour. I absolutely love this. It comes with a very delicious Thai kind of sauce.

The second dish is bamboo clam cooked with ginger.

At first we thought the bamboo clam weren't much. We took it by a rough estimation so we don't know how much it would be after it is cooked. But we did find quite a lot of it fallen off its shell. The gravy is very appetizing too.

Finally this is a barramundi fish steamed with supposedly lime but we saw lemon instead. Still, it did not disappoint. It was tangy and savory. So good and fresh!

And of course we finished everything!!!

This restaurant is said to be a floating restaurant as its name suggested. I could see there is an area that is probably on stilts overlooking the sea. But honestly it was all too dark to see anything haha.

Asides from that, the pricing is very reasonable. All these dishes cost us only MYR91.30, less than MYR 100! It is a huge surprise to me because usually the tourist spots may charge a higher price knowing that tourists will come by. The food was also satisfying and we went back with a happy stomach!
