Hi dear Hivers in Market Friday community, as you may know, I am in my father's hometown to take care of my ancestors. And I had the opportunity to visit a special market which is My Loi market. My Loi is an old market in Hue. There are no documents to say exactly when this market was established, but from the stories of my grandparents, I know that the market existed before their childhood. There are so many interesting things to see at this market, I would like to lead you around this quaint market through pictures.
My Loi Market is nestled in the middle of a field and surrounded by a river, which creates its peaceful and poetic beauty. The market's old tiled roofs show that it has been there for a long time and has seen many changes to the land. When I was a kid, my grandmother took me here. And until now, when I have grown up, my grandmother has passed away, My Loi market is still the same, still not much has changed. Only houses become older with traces of time.
My Loi market opens very early from 4am to 11pm. This is the busiest shopping area of the area. It is divided into many different areas including: fish, meat, vegetables, clothing, dining, crafts, etc. I went there at 6am, and that seems to be the busiest time of the week. market place. People here go to the market very early to return home to prepare breakfast for the family and prepare for a new working day. Almost all areas of the market were packed with people.
And the area that I like the most is the dining area where we can find a lot of regional specialties. And you know what, the food here is extremely cheap and delicious. Just 20,000vnd (under 1$), you have a delicious breakfast with many different options such as beef noodle soup, pho, 2 Vietnamese sandwiches, porridge, sticky rice or super delicious traditional cakes. The eating area of the market is located under the small huts nestled in the middle of the market, where many passersby gather. When entering here, you can smell the attractive aroma of many different dishes.
Although I was born and raised in a different land, and this is my parents' hometown, when I went to the market, some people asked and recognized me. Many of them are friends of my grandparents and parents. I have been to many places in Vietnam, and when I come back here, I always have a sense of belonging. Each region in Vietnam has a different voice, and when I return here, I have the opportunity to hear the lovely and familiar Hue voices. Everyone here is really friendly and open. They smiled when they met me.
Another interesting thing that I noticed in this market is that many of the sellers in this market are elderly women. They are longtime sellers in this market. According to them, they have been selling in this market since they were young girls, wow, amazing! In the traditional costumes of Vietnamese women with conical hats, they are the priceless beauty of this market. I wish them good health to continue maintaining the beauty of this market.
Thank you so much for taking time to read my post. I hope you have an interesting tour around the market through my writing and photos. I wish you a nice day.
