Recap of 2022

This post is long overdue, but better late than never.
2022 has been a lot for me. I’ve learnt all kinds of lessons and worse part, I didn’t achieve any of the things I set out to.
Each month has come with something different and I’m writing about each ( At least, those I have pictures of because I seem to have forgotten some things). I did promise my self to take more pictures in 2020 but I don’t think I was able to achieve that too.

January

We had just started our first semester of our third year in the university. The University Teacher’s Association of Ghana (UTAG) had gone on strike but we still went to school cause we just didn’t want to be home anymore. I think I spent the whole of January eating and sleeping. Oh I remember, my long term relationship had just ended a few days before school resumed. The recovery process was not a good one😂😂 but thankfully, I didn’t have studies to combine with it.

February

Due to some reasons, my school was not able to have a Student Representative Council(SRC) Election the previous semester and so it was scheduled for this new semester.
I had some of my closest friends contesting in it so I was more or less involved in the whole process. There was a portfolio that two of my friends contested for. This was hard for me because each of them expected me to campaign for them. I did campaign for both at different times😂. It depends on the person I’m walking with. I can’t really remember if I voted for that portfolio or not because I just couldn’t decide.

We took this picture one evening when we were going out to campaign.

This is literally the first friend I made by myself when I got to the university and it’s been amazing since then.

March

I really can’t remember but I think the strike had been called off by then and lectures had started.

I took this picture with my friend at a clean up exercise we were forced to attend. She was an exec you the SRC and I, of my department so we had to make an appearance. Else, it would be impossible to get us out of our beds at 6 AM for a clean up exercise.

We had a little birthday for our friend that was soon leaving to start her new life in a different country.

Took this on my birthday. I have other pictures from that day but this is my favorite.

This was a regular day after lectures. These guys can be so annoying at times😂 but I go everywhere with them.

April

Together with the other executives of my department, we organized an excursion to tourist sites around us.
We visited the border between Ghana and Burkina Faso, we went to a crocodile pond and to a dam which helps in irrigation.

After class one day, a friend called and asked me to meet him at another lecture hall. I got there and he asked to use my phone to take videos of an event on going. So I had to wait till the event was over so I just joined them. It was the swearing in ceremony on the election we had in February.

These two friends one mine had just been sworn in as new SRC executives. Everyone else was just taking pictures with the new executives. Then I saw this guy who I was acquainted with and we decided to take a picture.

He usually came to his friends that I was in the same hostel with and I would sometimes just see him around. So we took the picture and went out separate ways.

Then came Eid-ul-Fitr. So I went back home to celebrate with my family.

May

Exams was almost here so that was what the concentration was on. The exams started at the ending of the month

I took this picture on the day of my most difficult paper: Ordinary Differential Equations I. Not that it’s difficult, I just never paid attention during the beginning of the course and it was hard to learn everything at the last minute. I dressed so well to write this paper and I couldn’t even make sense of what was on the question paper😂.

June

The exams extended to June. Minutes before I left the hostel to write my last paper for the semester, my brother called to tell me his wife just had a baby. I was so excited since I would be home in time for the outdooring.

When I got home, I spent my days going to the market to sell at my mom’s store cause she was at home welcoming the guests that were coming to see the baby.

This picture in particular, I don’t know why I like it. I was always sending foodstuffs home everyday after closing from the market in preparation for the outdooring.

Then the day finally came. I just took pictures and went back to sleep. When I woke up later, all the food was finished 😏.

Then one day at the market, I just wasn’t feeling right so I called my brother to go to the hostel with me. I knew it was relating to my stomach. We got there, they run a test and said I had malaria in addition to what ever was wrong with me and it needed immediate attention. It was funny. The doctor was like I have over 5000 malaria parasites. How is that even possible 😂? So I got a drip and had to come had to come to the hospital a few times for more.

Then I got to spend time with my friends. These friends that we don’t talk everyday because of my bad communication habits but every time we meet, it’s like we never left each other.

July

Eid came again but I had to leave for school the next day.

The rest of the month was probably just school stuff.

August and September

These were the most stressful months.
I was part of a vetting panel which I wrote about some time ago.

Then I had my own political intentions. Photo shoots, flyers, filing a form, campaigning combined with lectures and bad mental health.
I got his picture with my best friend who was just an acquaintance a few months ago😂.

October

I went on a senate meeting with my colleague executives. Then made it to Accra for the rest of the vacation

This was from a night we went out to the mall to get some food.

November

This month was a good one. My cousin's birth day came up.

Then we went on a weekend trip to a beach resort

Then we went to see Black Panther 2 when it was showing in cinemas.

In the last week of the month, I started my internship.

December

I went out with my aunt to have a facial at a dermatologist.

Then we went to the beach

Went to the beach again 😂

Went out to watch Avatar 2 at the cinema

And on the last day of the month, we went out to a concert to count down into 2023.

Obviously there are so many things I didn’t write about. The challenges, the bad days, wet pillow nights. But I learnt so much this year that I look forward to so much in 2023. The biggest lesson I learnt is that no one is going to be there for me like myself.
