It's been almost four years now since I've been studying this course, thanks to the strike and covid 19 breaks. It would have been nice to write this post as a graduate of the course since I'm supposed to have graduated already but no big deal, I'll write it anyways. From childhood, I had been aspiring to study medicine and become a medical doctor. I've always loved how respected and smart doctors are especially the women among them, it was my biggest dream and some days I still feel like I will achieve that dream no matter what may be going on with my life at the moment. Well, thanks to life and it's uncertainties, I was admitted into a university to study Microbiology instead. *At first, I disliked the course and thought I would switch courses when I finish first level...* Well, here I am introducing myself as a proud microbiologist because I was later humbled to love the course and I also lost the chance to switch the course because of some conditions. I decided to get serious with the course and learn more about it. Guess what! Microbiology is a course the whole world needs and I feel like a lot of people needs me after studying so much about it. It's a course in the medical field but on a kind of lower level compared to other medical departments. Hey! Not so low as they are also of a department that other departments can't function without them. #### **How and why is this course important to the world?**

I really do hope I won't deviate into teaching about microorganisms and how they affect our day to day lives, I have to try hard not to go that way but seriously, microbes are everywhere (*That makes Microbiologists needed everywhere*). So many body tests we humans go for, are conducted by microbiologists in the lab to detect and prescribe drugs that are needed. We all know what it means to take drugs without knowing what the actual illness is. Microbiologist will make that easier through a series of test processes. So many of our foods don't just get to the market without going through the care of a microbiologist. There are no good food industries without a microbiologist and that would show how important they are to food quality and healthiness. Microbiologists promote cleanliness, they know way better than anyone what tiny dirt could contain as they are kind of microscopic even with their human eyes... Their main instrument is the microscope as they try to find and get rid of microbes. This means they can educate the society on how to promote cleanliness and reduce the spread of bacterial diseases. ##### **With microbiologists in the society:** - Foods are safer in quality and healthiness. - Patients gets right treatments. - The public learns more about bacterial diseases in their homes. - Health promotion is guaranteed, easy detection of illnesses/diseases. I'm not sure there is any reason for this cause not to be studied by more persons seeing how important it is to mankind. I'm humbled to be proud of the course I'm studying and thank goodness, I still get to dress smart and save lives like other medical personnel... **That counts for me**.
