Orange Barb harvested

The Orange Barb balanced hybrid was created with the crossing of the Barbara Bud and Tangie strains - Tangie as in tangerine (Source). It grew tall, showing it's sativa side, it was a vigorous grower with it's branches growing upwards quickly.

The buds have a orange tangerine, citrus woodsy scent - from the ample Linalool, Caryophyllene, Myrcene, Limonene, and Humulene terpenes.

Burnt and light orange pistils, light and dark green buds with a few purple accents and a solid coating of white trichomes - crispy buds ready for curing.

Leaves and stems trimmed, hung to dry for a week in the basement bathroom with the exhaust fan kept on to keep air flow and prevent moisture buildup. The trichome coated leaf trimmings will be saved for future micron filter bag bubble hash making.

Harvest Weight

After a week of drying the buds are ready for curing - the outside of the buds are dryer than the inside, curing equalizes the inside and outside moisture levels. After each ounce, 28 grams, is weighed it is placed in a mason jar with the air tight lid tightened for curing.

Each day I will briefly open each jar to let any moisture build up out, this is called burping the jar or bag.

This Orange Barb cannabis grow had six weeks of vegetative growth and ten weeks of bloom time, 127 gram total harvest - a Quarter Pound and Half Ounce. The original Pink Apricot with a 104 gram harvest had six weeks of vegetative growth time and nine weeks of bloom.

4.5oz = 127.75g

The upcoming Pink Apricot clone had seven weeks of vegetative growth and will have ten weeks of bloom - it will be interesting to see how much the extra week of vegetative and bloom growth will contribute to the final harvest weight, when compared with the original Pink Apricot harvest.

Cross Bred Seeds

One cola of the Orange Barb plant was pollinated with Pink Apricot strain pollen - Orange Barb x Pink Apricot crossed strain cannabis seeds were created.

Atleast thirty mystery seeds to play with - they will produce cannabis plants and buds like the Orange Barb, or like the Pink Apricot strain, or anywhere inbetween.

IMG_20230501_112203_493.jpg

Ideally I would grow each seed and make a clone before putting into bloom - after blooming the mother, if it's female and has desired growth and bud qualities, then the clone would be breeded with a desirable growth male from the bunch.

When enough selected generations are bred together, the seed will eventually stabilize to a strain with consistent qualities.
