The recall affects pre-rolled blunts and joints produced at the center and sold at medical and recreational dispensaries in Ann Arbor, Bay City, Detroit, Ferndale, Hazel Park, Lansing, Lapeer, Lowell, Negaunee, Quincy, River Rouge, and Traverse City.

It’s unclear how officials learned of the incident. The suspension order states that the MRA “initiated its investigation based on information” that an employee licked one of the pre-rolls on July 13.

Michigan regulators ordered the recall of about 3,200 pre-rolls after an employee allegedly licked one of the pre-rolls while making the product.

Boomers Smoke Twice as Much Medical Cannabis as Millennials, New Survey Says

A recent survey determined that Baby Boomers consume cannabis for medical purposes at twice the rate of Millennials. When it comes to recreational weed, though, those numbers are reversed, with Millennials sparking up just to chill out twice as much as Boomers do.

Boomers

• 50% use cannabis primarily as medicine.

• 28% use weed only for recreation.

• 22% use it for both.

Millennials

• 22% use cannabis primarily as medicine.

• 49% use weed only for recreation.

• 29% use it for both.

Still, these particular poll numbers do seem to make sense. They suggest cannabis is thought of mainly as medicine for older folks while, among the young, getting high is largely about feeling happy. We’ll toke to that.

Verilife conducted the survey by polling 1,000 self-identified cannabis consumers between May 29 and June 5, 2020. The average age of Boomer respondents was 59, with a gender breakdown at 61 percent male and 39 percent female. Among Millennial participants, the average age was 31, with 51 percent male and 46 percent female.

CBD prices are falling as companies seek new consumers. Is that a good thing?

The aggregate price of hemp CBD biomass dropped by 79% from April 2019 to April 2020, according to Hemp Benchmarks, a pricing and tracking agency. That means prices decreased from $38.00 per pound to $8.10 per pound.

Executives at Charlotte’s Web, the biggest brand in over-the-counter CBD, told investors in May that one of the issues they wanted to address “a lack of accessible price points.” Charlotte’s Web reduced list prices 15% to 20% across its portfolio, a move that was made possible by lower production costs, the company said during a quarterly earnings call.

“I see price compression due to increased competition and customer knowledge, the maturation of the marketplace, and decreasing costs for CBD and cannabinoids across the board,” said Sequoia Price-Lazarus, founder and CEO of Lazarus Naturals.

The new CBD product line, called Happy Lane, which will sell for less than $20, said Joseph Dowling, CEO of CV Sciences. He said in a statement that the price is set to be “an entry point we believe provides access to new CBD customers.”

Compared to 2019, more middle-income consumers (household income of $40,000 to $75,000) are using CBD in 2020 and now account for nearly one-third of CBD consumers,” according to the report, which concluded that “CBD sales volume will continue to rise as new consumers enter the market across a broad range of product formats, partly thanks to more friendly pricing.
