WNBA Finals Game 2 Takeaways

I must admit that I usually don't watch the WNBA. I think that the game moves a little slow and most of the games are quite lopsided as the top half of the league is much more skilled than the other half.

With that being said, I watched last night and that game was actually really good.

Who Played?

Last night was game 2 of the WNBA finals in a shortened season and the Chicago Sky took on the Phoenix Mercury in Phoenix.

Chicago game into the game with a 1-0 series lead with the chance to pretty much put the series to bed if they would take a 2-0 lead back home.

What Happened

The game actually ended up going to overtime after Courtney Vandersloot tied the game with a few seconds left in regulation on a drive to the basket.

In overtime, the Phoenix Mercury took over the game as Diana Taurasi caught fire from three and Brittney Griner continued to finish shots in the paint to pick up 29 points on the night.

Takeaways

Well though there were some plays that were questionable for teams in the finals of their league (not looking at the ball and having it go by you on a pass), there were a lot of really nice plays.

There was great ball movement to get shooters open from the Sky and the Mercury were quite clutch down the stretch finding finishes in the paint.

It was quite fun to watch and brought a great intensity that we haven't seen in basketball for a few months now. The Suns and Trailblazers were there in the crowd supporting the ladies and the Mercury crowd was pretty electric down the stretch of the game.

I may find myself watching game 3 tomorrow, I'm pretty invested now. Check it out if you get the time, it's worth it!
