I have just arranged that: $136 for 40 days at an amazing hostel. $3.4 per night instead of $5 so I've made a good deal. π€ Love this hostel: centrally located, with much space in the dorm (and no bed bugs π€’). Happy a lot to know I can be in peace for so long... Going to focus on photography... Going to be a wandering hermit with a photo camera... Hope it will be a happy time.
That's not my first time in this city. In the 2010s, Ho Chi Minh City (aka Saigon) was my second home in Southeast Asia after Bangkok. So I know where to take nice shots.
I also plan to research in order to find hidden gems like those railway and canal-side neighborhoods in Bangkok I posted about on Hive.
Street scenes are going to be one of my focuses.
Saigon is a huge center of urban life, so diverse.
Hardships and
dolce vita, Maybachs and socially unprotected people in a socialist country
where the only party is allowed, the communist one.
Saigon has another bright feature: the Vietnamese live on motorbikes; they eat, sleep, and probably create children on them either (I havenβt personally seen that but I guess π).
That will be another topic, I mean
taking portraits of people on bikes.
And pets too:
Dogs on motorbikes are so often.
Images of Saigon sometimes sell on photo stocks that's why I will photograph sightseeing places either. And travelers too:
Look at this, I wanted to take a photo unnoticed, but no π:
But what lovely people they are; I feel sorry I took an image and passed them saying not a word...
So... My Saigon journey has started, wish me good luck!
More stories from Southeast Asia are ahead! Check out my previous posts on my personal Pinmapple map.
I took these images with a Nikkor 50mm and a Nikkor 70-300mm on a full-frame DSLR Nikon D750 on May 19 and 20, 2024, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
