Christmas Pikachu in Bangkok. Portraits and Light Installations

They arranged this Christmas Pikachu decoration in front of CentralWorld Shopping Mall (#6 largest in the world btw). We had a great walk in the mall but finally got tired of stores, so a change of scenery was just what we needed.

That's what we saw from the window:

An army of Pikachu:

At the ground floor of CentralWorld we also found a Pokemon exhibition:

TCG game, Charmander on cards.

A Pokemon video game on several screens, anybody could come and play it for several minutes:

Outside, the whole square was dedicated to Japan, look at this Osaka corner:

Have no idea what's common between Christmas and pokemons and Japan in general but, in the modern world, you don't need that much think - just mix all the brightest colors from different parts of the world and inspire people to make more rash purchases. ๐Ÿ˜

UPD: I've researched and found the answer:

Retail and property developer Central Pattana Plc (CPN) is gearing up to invest 600 million baht and collaborate with the famous Pokรฉmon brand to launch "The Great Celebration 2024" marketing campaign. The campaign, which runs from Nov 1 to Jan 7, aims to increase the number of customers visiting its malls across Thailand by 25-30%. It is particularly targeting weekend travellers from South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam. Source: BangkokPost.com

It was getting dark. Taking the bus back to the suburbs would mean sitting in traffic jams, and after selfies and loitering for a while, we headed to the light installations we had just read about on the Internet.

Always fun to find something new.

Young Thai girls, shining for all their subscribers, actual and future.

That light was changing colors and patterns

We had to move otherwise I'd stay a couple of hours at this gorgeous location.

A posed portrait or two is always fun:

On the way to a bus stop, we visited another installation:

That smoke was fun

but it wasn't weed unfortunately. ๐Ÿ˜€

Back to real colors. Night at the Chao Phraya River's shores.

Cats, monks, flowers at a flower market, a bouquet to bring home, just to have, why not. I also had 3 cans of Schweppes in my backpacks - here and there, we stumbled upon Schweppes promotional people, and I decided to stock ๐Ÿ˜„ some cans.

The Pikachu decoration by CentralWorld will last until January 7. I hope I'll visit it this weekend to see what's happening there.

More images and stories from Southeast Asia are ahead! Check out the previous ones on my personal Pinmapple map.

I took the images with a Nikkor 50mm on Nikon D750 on November 26, 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand.
