A 19th Century Camera [PhotoChain Challenge - 26th Edition]

Good Night, Hive Bees!

This is my entry for the PhotoChain Challenge: 26th Edition, hosted by @davidesimoncini.

The keywords for this edition are Jeans and Umbrella, picked by the previous winners @qwerrie and @adinapoli.

First of all, I'd like to say it was really difficult to find a photo in my collection with both of these keywords... particularly because umbrellas are usually present with rainy weather and taking photos under rain is something I avoid at all costs, to prevent the camera from being damaged by water.

After digging for quite some time, I landed on this picture... and it seems perfect for this week's edition. 👌

As you can see, there is a photographer taking a photo of a couple using a very old camera, one of those cameras with an incorporated umbrella and a small dark chamber where the photographer needed to stick his head into, so that he could take the shot. 😁

While this was a common sight in the 19th century, nowadays it's just a funny scene... and these old cameras are only used by street performers in situations like this, in order to attract tourists and make them reach out their pockets. This is how they make a living. 😉

This photographer even had an assistant. He must earn enough to pay her, since they chose a very touristic location... just outside of the Royal Palace of Madrid.

I hope you enjoyed this shot.
