Beyond The Seasons

In many guidebooks, you can often find the phrase that the northern nature is very contrasting. Probably, in some sense, this is true. We live in extremes, either bare tundra or lush forests. Low hills, or snow-capped mountains. Endless day and endless night. There are obvious opposites at every turn in these parts.

But sometimes it seems to me that all these differences are not contrasting, but barely noticeable, due to the smooth transition from one to another. At least for those who live here permanently. We often do not notice how darkness is replaced by light, the plain by hills turning into mountains, and the cold season is warm. As for the last, at the turn of the seasons this is really not always noticeable.

When the northern half of our planet is already admiring blooming flowers and all shades of greenery, giving up their dreams to light fluffy clouds floating across a clear sky, we are here, still can't say goodbye to winter.

Summer is a little more than a week away, and our forests have just begun to wake up and are trying to dress up for warm days. But suddenly, unexpectedly, another last snowfall comes, as if teasing the local flora and reminding it that spring is not here yet.

This creates a strange effect in the observer's head. If you let go of calendar numbers, forget yourself in the sounds of the forest, hiding from household noise, and just plunge into the flow of life and time, then you get lost. You don't understand what time of year you are in.

Maybe this is not the beginning of spring in the far north at all, but on the contrary. Nature has already taken all the sunny days off and is now preparing for another long winter. It's as if a snow sorceress appeared in this forest and froze everything around to continue admiring the beauty of stasis, which she loves so much.

And it doesn't seem disturbing or wrong. There are no thoughts that you are tired of all this cold and snow. Rather, you are returned to this calm, slightly cold flow of time, and given once again to slow down a little and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Still, if suddenly, melancholy comes over you and you live in anticipation of warmth, then looking closely, you can solve the mystery and find the symbols of the onset of spring.

Already a blooming dandelion, it is just getting ready to absorb the energy of the sun in order to blossom into a white weightless ball and go on a journey on the waves of the wind.

Fresh sprouts of blades of grass on an old and crippled stump. Blooming yagel, which fed many inhabitants throughout the harsh winter.

They all feel that a blissful time is ahead. They will not die, they are waiting for more than one snowfall, maybe even in June. Each of them knows that there is no need to hurry here, always remembering the local hostess.
