Looking at the calendar, I was shocked to see that the year 2022 has already entered the finishing straight. This year I was very much out and about in the real world, with great and creative people. The internet played only a minor role. But what use are all those pictures if they end up just languishing on the hard drive? Here we go on a criss-cross journey through my light painting year 2022.
Bei einem Blick in den Kalender habe ich mit erschrecken festgestellt, dass das Jahr 2022 bereits auf die Zielgerade eingebogen ist. In diesem Jahr war ich sehr viel in der realen Welt unterwegs, mit tollen und kreativen Menschen. Das Internet spielte nur eine untergeordnete Rolle. Doch war bringen die ganzen Bilder, wenn sie am Ende nur auf der Festplatte versauern. Los geht die Reise kreuz und quer durch mein Lightpainting Jahr 2022.
The cover picture was my first light painting night ( End of February 2022 ) I spent outside. The first two months of the year were rainy and/or stormy. What light painters do when the weather is bad, I show you further down in this post. I was happy when Sven @lichtkunstfoto got in touch and asked me if I would like to go to an old railway bridge he had discovered. I agreed, got on the train and went to meet Sven @lichtkunstfoto. From the station, we drove a little further in the direction of the bridge, which was somewhere in the middle of nowhere. Here is a picture of the location in daylight.
Das Titelbild war meine erste Lightpainting-Nacht ( Ende Februar 2022 ) die ich draußen verbracht habe. Die ersten beiden Monate des Jahres waren verregnet und/oder stürmisch. Was Lightpainter machen wenn das Wetter schlecht ist, zeige ich Euch weiter unten in diesem Beitrag. Nach dieser "Durststrecke" war ich froh als Sven @lichtkunstfoto sich meldete und mich fragte, ob ich Lust und Zeit habe zu einer alten Eisenbahnbrücke zu fahren, die er entdeckt hat. Ich sagte zu, setzte mich in den Zug und fuhr Sven @lichtkunstfoto entgegen. Vom Bahnhof ging es dann noch etwas mit dem Auto weiter, in Richtung Brücke die irgendwo im Nirgendwo lag. Hier mal ein Bild der Location bei Tageslicht.

After we had realised a few of Sven @lichtkunstfoto's picture ideas, which became increasingly difficult due to the cold in the crystal clear night, I discovered this floating woman above the bridge. Just looking at her made me feel even colder. The presence of the hovering woman made it even colder and by the time the picture was taken and we were packing, the bags and tools lying around open were frozen. Thank you Sven @lichtkunstfoto for this cold but educational and funny night.
Nachdem wir ein paar Bildideen von Sven @lichtkunstfoto umgesetzt haben, was zunehmend schwieriger wurde durch die Kälte in der sternenklaren Nacht, entdeckte ich diese schwebende Frau über der Brücke. Allein bei dem Anblick wurde mir noch kälter. Durch die Anwesenheit der schwebenden Frau wurde es noch kälter und als das Bild im Kasten war und wir packten, waren die Taschen und Tools, die offen rumlagen, eingefroren. Vielen Dank Sven @lichtkunstfoto für diese kalte, aber lehrreiche und spaßige Nacht.

At the beginning of my article, I already mentioned that the weather was almost constantly lousy during the first months of the year. Either it rained continuously or it stormed or both. Not good conditions for going outdoors for light painting. What does a light painter do now? The title should actually read: "What do I do...". I can't speak for all my colleagues here.
Sitting at home frustrated and doing nothing is not really my nature.
The light painters @fadetoblack and @fastchrisuk from the UK, for example, like to use their kitchen for crazy light painting pictures, or others use a basement room or the living room. I fortunately have a room in my home that is unused and I have set it up as a little studio / test lab / craft room.
In inclement weather, I use the space and time to try out new ideas, develop effects and simply do lightpaintings.
Here are a few examples:
Zu Beginn meines Beitrag erwähnte ich ja bereits, dass die ersten Monate des Jahres fast durchgehend mieses Wetter herrschte. Entweder es regnete durchgehend oder es stürmte oder beides. Keine guten Vorraussetzungen um zum Lightpainting vor die Tür zu gehen. Was macht ein Lightpainter nun? Der Titel müsste eigentlich lauten: " Was mache ich..." , kann hier ja schließlich nicht für alle Kollegen sprechen
Frustriert zuhause sitzen und nichts tun, entspricht nicht so ganz meiner Natur.
Die Lightpainter @fadetoblack und @fastchrisuk aus dem Vereinigten Königreich zum Beispiel, nutzen gerne ihre Küche für verrückte Lightpainting-Bilder, oder andere nutzen einen Kellerraum oder das Wohnzimmer. Ich habe glücklichweise einen Raum in meiner Wohnung, der ungenutzt ist und den ich mir als ein kleines Studio / Testlabor / Bastelraum eingerichtet habe.
Bei ungünstigem Wetter nutze ich den Raum und die Zeit, um neue Ideen auszuprobieren, Effekte zu entwickeln und einfach Lightpaintings zu machen.

Roughly speaking, I created all the images using the camera rotation technique. During the exposure I moved the camera and the light according to a certain sequence / choreography. But this is really only a very general description of what I did. Nothing was added or removed in the post processing.
In the next posts here on Hive, I plan to explain this kind of images in more detail. Otherwise it would go beyond the scope of this post.

Alle Bilder habe ich grob gesagt, mit der Camera Rotationtechnik erstellt. Während der Belichtung habe ich die Kamera und das Licht nach einem bestimmten Ablauf / Choreographie bewegt. Das ist jetzt aber wirklich nur sehr allgemein beschrieben, was ich da gemacht habe. Im Post Processing wurde nichts hinzugefügt oder entfernt.
In den nächsten Beiträgen hier auf Hive, habe ich mir vorgenommen diese Art von Bilder detailierter zu erklären. Das würde hier sonst den Rahmen sprengen.
