An oldie, but kind of a goldie.
Icey IJburg
It was a chilly, no, a friggin' cold February. Driving was pretty dangerous as I believe Code Orange was announced by the weather station. The fog plus the rising sun made the colors too tempting, so I had to park my car and take some shots. IJburg is just outside of Amsterdam. IJburg is a man-made island in Amsterdam. The Dutch are pretty famous for fighting water while creating and protecting land from it.
From JPEG to JPEG
I never bothered looking at these photographs for several years simply because they were JPEGs. At the time of photographing these stunning shots of Amsterdam's IJburg during the winter. Once I realized that I somehow switched from RAW to JPEG shooting, I thought I'd never use them. But... I never deleted them either. Until today! Fresh from the press. I scanned through my Amsterdam photographs yesterday and thought it was a shame to not use them. I'm pretty lucky that I took the time to get the temperature right with JPEG as I sometimes don't bother too much when shooting in RAW.
It's January now
While it is January right now, there is no sign of an upcoming winter or more snow. But, I got to say, this Winter has been harsh, it's a different type of cold or something. Very harsh. I don't know if it feels the same for you, but I rarely get it cold, and usually, I am pretty warm. I'm curious what this January and February hold for us, as winter is pretty cool to take photographs in!
A big double mirrored reflection screen, so everything is extra nice to look at.
Enjoying Winter...
If I enjoy Winter? Nah, but I wouldn't say no to a Winter behind a window with a cup of hot choco.
Cheers,
Ruben
