The Colibrí thalassinus, whose common name is the Mexican violetear, is another of the beautiful birds that can be found in the mountains of Costa Rica. In the San Gerado de Dota area, where I photographed this specimen, you can find 5 other species of hummingbirds, some of them endemic to Costa Rica.
