Hi there my Hivean friends and followers!
Most of the Krakow episodes of my architectural photography series were dedicated to the stunning local churches, cathedrals, basilicas and monasteries whose origins date back to long centuries ago and it´s perfectly understandable as the city is known for its remarkably long and rich history.
However, Krakow is also home to one of the most impressive state of the art architectural pieces in the country - the magnificent ICE Krakow Congress Center. Opened as recently as in 2014, this super modern building is one of the most beautiful and acclaimed structures of this kind in the world. Located just outside of the very historic center of the city, a short walk from the iconic Wawel Castle, the Congress Center is a massive architectural complex that consists of a variety of halls and rooms, the biggest of which, known as The Auditorium, has a capacity of up to 2,000 people.
Last week, we had the privilege to visit this impressive building as we went there for the Bomba Megabitowa Festival, a prestigious cultural event held on the occasion of what would be the 100th birthday of Stanislaw Lem, a famous Polish sci-fi writer, philosopher, futurologist and literal critic. The festival was very interesting and I might write another post about it later but for today, let me just show you some of the photos of the super modern ICE Krakow Congress Center that hosted the festival.
I hope you enjoyed these pictures. As you can see, they were taken from both inside and outside as I wanted to give you some perspective of the enormous size and greatness of this architectural complex but I don´t think the photos can really do justice to the actual impressiveness of this place. It´s just too big and intricate and it´s definitely better and greatly recommended to check out this remarkable building for yourself so make sure to stop by whenever you happen to be in Krakow ;)
