Pompeii - ancient remains

Pompeii, is located 23 km southeast of Naples, at the base of Mount Vesuvius. An eruption from Mount Vesuvius destroyed the city of Pompeii On August 24, 79 CE.

For centuries Pompeii lied under the ash, and when the remains got unearthed, in the 1700s, the city was surprisingly well preserved. Among many buildings, amphitheater and all kinds of houses, inside there were some preserved remains of people sheltering from the eruption. Some of them were found frozen in time while doing some usual work.
