Hike #32: Tatras (Poland)

Welcome to the next episode of photo-series dedicated to hiking adventures. This time we went around the Tatra Mountains, mostly from Polish side.

Our journey begins at a cable car station near known city Zakopane. This time we exceptionally take the cable car in order to get to the ridge quickly. It can transport up to 60 people at once, sadly, we take the best place in the middle of the cabin with no views, therefore no photos.

View from the middle station (1350 m). Still green woods.

It is 8 o'clock. We arrive at the top station which is located on the mountain Kasprowy Wierch (1987 m). Crap! The weather looks bad today.

It is pretty windy and chilly today🥶

This is gonna be lovely ridge hike🤣

Clouds scatter😲 There are some lakes down there!

Slopes are pretty steep here...

...I do not want to slip.

Wind-lashed, she is topping 2k altitudinal meters now.

An hour later, due to the bad weather we adjust our trail and start descending at Świnica saddle (2051 m). For sure I am very sad, but there is no point climbing higher if you see 💩

This is my typical mountain luck. After I descend lower, the bad weather turns to good one. That's the beauty of mountains, they entice you to come next time😁

The unveiled mountain is Świnica (2301 m) - my original POI. Next time then😉

The eye is a glacial lake Długi Staw Gąsienicowy. Notice the helicopter on the right hand side.

Summits (from left: Kościelec (2155 m), Świnica) wreathed in clouds.

Świnica mountain.

First cool views! From left: Kasprowy Wierch, lakes, Kościelec, Świnica. I simply love how the wind plays with clouds at the tops of the mountains.

There are more lakes down there.

Świnica is cloud-covered again.

The ridge we walked from right to left (except the left hand side mountain, Świnica).

Even wider panoramic shot.

At a mountain pass Karb (1853 m).

Shot from mountain Mały Kościelec (1866 m). The lake on the left is Czarny Staw Gąsienicowy. The mountain in the middle is Kościelec.

Truly nice mountain footpath.

Kościelec - super cool mountain, must conquer it next time - on the left, Świnica in the middle.

Beautiful mountain ridge on the opposite side. Descending now to the lake.

Sticking out Kościelec.

Oh dear, looks like a very busy spot by the lake down there.

Gorgeous lake surrounded by high mountains, Kościelec on the right.

The mountains from some 1500 m.a.s.l.

The ridge we will walk. Do you see the mountain above the clouds in the distance? That is supposed to be Babia Góra (1725 m).

Another iconic mountain (the pointed one) - Wielki Giewont (1895 m).

That is all for today. Here is brief itinerary of this kind of short hike. In general, one major downside of our hike was that it was brutally overcrowded. I am afraid this is pretty common here.
