Hike #29: Doggie's First Sleeping Rough (Czechia)

Welcome to the next episode of photo-series dedicated to hiking adventures. This time a four-footed buddy and his mistress joined me to enjoy hiking in Jeseníky mountains (Czechia). How was sleeping in the open air, meeting chamois and lizards,...? Read on to find out more😉

Day One

On the mountain Kamzičí vrch (1173m) - cool rock formations here and there. Praděd (1491m) mountain with a tower in the background.

It is not just blueberries which you can find almost anywhere at this altitude - also mountain cranberries ripen these days.

Bit of posing for photographers now.

Time to move on. Having beer (Radegast) at Švýcárna chalet (1315m). Quite crowded spot down here as everyone wants to get something to eat/drink.

They started to graze this cattle here, likely aurochs (please correct me if I am wrong)?

Bumblebee on a thistle.

Local spring where you can refill your empty bottle. It flows into this tank where you can observe trouts.

Break ends, back on the road. Well, to be more accurate marching on this nice board pathway...

...which is very popular with local lizards...

...as they like taking a sunbath a lot!

Unsure what it is but it resembles cranberries😆

A random pool with dragonfly flying above the surface.

Blink!

Červenohorské saddle (1013m) in the background.

A quick stop at the saddle.

Just reached the destination - Červená hora (Red mountain) which is 1333m high.

The sun is about to go down shortly.

Vozka rock in the distance. If interested, I covered it in my previous post.

Moments together (dog+beer). It is getting cold😨

The sun just dipped below the horizon. I am about to have tough times as I lent out my regular sleeping bag. Those warm summer nights are passed.

What's worse, full moon, clear skies... I hope I am not going to freeze to death in my light summer sleeping bag.

Nearly 9 PM. Time to go bed.

Day Two

It is nearly 6 AM. Looks like I made it through the rough, cold and eventually windy night! Finally, the sun which is going to warm me up a bit.

The doggie just woke up!

Time to pack up, doggie!

An hour later. We quietly go by this small flock of chamois. I counted six (some may be hidden behind trees).

Attention, fatal accidents on this stretch. Mind the grim reaper.

At last, doggie is resting in the parking lot. We made it😁

Here is a brief itinerary, no extra miles this time.

This was weekend of August 2021. Thank you for reading this post. If you like it, stay tuned as more cool stuff will definitely come 😁 Don't forget to check out my Pinmapple profile to see all places I have visited on the map! See you on the trail😉
