Welcome to the next episode of photo-series dedicated to hiking adventures. This time I take you to Jeseníky Mountains (Czechia) where my good friend and I hiked. Temperature dropped to ~-10°C 🥶, hopefully the blue sky with no clouds compensated it. Let's see 😉
The journey begins at a small resort Kouty nad Desnou (Desná is name of the river). After climbing a steep slope, we take this calm trail with ~ankle-deep snow coverage.
Finally, first view! If not mistaken (my first visit to this part of these mountains), the white mountain ridge way behind is Králický Sněžník (covered in this post).

Now the real fun starts.
We need to climb a steep unmarked slope in order to get to the mountain Mravenečník (translated as Anteater).
The problem is that we are drowning in snow. The higher altitude, the more snow. With each step we fall through (even above the knees) as the snow coverage is not firm enough. Extremely exhausting 😓
At least some reward - the views are just amazing.
Cannot wait to see how it looks like from the very top!

At last, welcome to Mravenečník (1343 m.a.s.l.). In the ~middle, you can see the highest mountain of Jeseníky, Praděd (1491 m.a.s.l.), with a communication tower.

Now in the mountain Dlouhé Stráně (1353 m.a.s.l.). It is kind of sliced off mountain...
...where you can find a man-made lake which is part of hydroelectric pumping power station. This is the upper reservoir. This place is always very windy. Besides, it is a highly busy spot. Two solid reasons to better set out.

In the mountain Medvědí hora (translated as Bear mountain), which is 1163m high, specifically at rock called Rysí skála (Lynx rock).

Here is ~itinerary. We walked ~26k steps, overcame ~800⇵. The distance was not that shocking. Still, we were KO due to struggling through the deep snow.
