This place known as La Islita is a natural reserve very close to San Martin de Los Andes, in the province of Neuquen, Patagonia Argentina. It is protected by the Mapuches, descendants of the original people of the area, who preserve large tracts of land in the surrounding areas and exploit them for tourism because of the natural beauty that abounds in the mountains of the South American Southern Cone. We went here by bike, we were camping in a campsite located almost in the center of the city, so we left the luggage in the tent and we decided to know this nearby point with the bikes a little lighter, which is not given every day, so we were going to enjoy it very much, I remember that on the way we went along a gravel road that borders the mountain with big climbs, The road is quite wide and you can even get there by truck, when you go through it you get the feeling that you are inside a children's story of those classic Disney style, but it is the reality of a place with a lot of history and inexplicable beauty.
Arriving at La Islita we found more tourists, some benches and tables for snacking and grills for the classic Argentinean barbecue, it is a very nice place with a couple of small beaches and the view of this small island of Lake Lacar, it was almost summer and there were still traces of spring, with many strong colors, lots of yellow flowers that adorned the views. It was worth it to go there and stay a couple of hours resting from long days of slopes and bike routes, although I remember that on the way back, we decided to take an alternative road that would leave us at the downtown beach, where the city meets the lake, but it was not a very wise decision, as the road became a path, bordering the mountain and climbing rocks, that made us have to carry the bikes much of the way without counting the stops to check the map, as there were many roads and constant forks that made us hesitate all the time, in the end, we managed to reach the town and this time to rest of that last stretch forced, but that's it! quite an adventure!

Este lugar conocido como La Islita es una reserva natural muy cerca de San Martin de Los Andes, en la provincia de Neuquén, Patagonia Argentina. Es protegido por los Mapuches, descendientes de los pueblos originarios de la zona que conservan grandes terrenos en zonas aledañas y los explotan turisticamente por la belleza natural que abunda en las montañas del cono sur sudamericano. Fuimos hasta aquí en bicicleta, estábamos acampando en un camping ubicado casi en el centro de la ciudad, así que dejamos el equipaje en la carpa y nos decidimos por conocer este punto cercano con las bicis un poco mas livianas, cosa que no se da todos los días, así que lo íbamos a disfrutar mucho, recuerdo que en la ida fuimos por un camino de ripio que bordea la montaña con grandes subidas, hasta llegar a un bosque milenario donde comienza la zona protegida por la comunidad mapuche, el camino es bastante ancho y se puede llegar hasta en camioneta, al recorrerlo te deja la sensación de que estas dentro de un cuento infantil de esos al estilo clásico de Disney, pero es la realidad de un lugar con mucha historia y belleza inexplicable.
Al llegar a La Islita nos encontramos con mas turistas, algunos bancos y mesas para sentarse y parrilleros para el clásico asado argentino, es un lugar muy bonito con un par de playitas pequeñas y la vista a este pequeño islote del lago Lacar, era ya casi verano y aun quedaban vestigios de la primavera, con muchos colores fuertes, infinidad de flores amarillas que adornaban las vistas. Valió la pena ir hasta ahí y quedarse un par de horas descansando de largos días de cuestas y rutas en bicicleta aunque recuerdo que al volver, decidimos tomar un camino alternativo que nos dejaría en la playa del centro, donde la ciudad se encuentra con el lago, pero fue una decisión no muy acertada, ya que el camino se convirtió en sendero, bordeando la montaña y subiendo rocas, eso hizo que tengamos que cargar las bicis gran parte del trayecto sin contar las paradas para revisar el mapa, ya que habían muchísimos caminos y bifurcaciones constantes que nos hacían dudar todo el tiempo, en fin, logramos llegar al pueblo y esta vez descansar de ese ultimo tramo forzoso, pero así es! toda una aventura!
