Sunset over Wakayama

Wakayama is in fact the southernmost part of Honshu, the largest of Japan's four main islands. It's a bit counterintuitive as we usually think of Japan as lined up north to south, when is is much more northeast to southwest. As such you can find some coral reefs of the coast of Wakayama! However, they aren't visible from the top of the mountain. The clouds she a very beautiful sunset however, were on display!

The view of Wakayama city from the grass covered plateau at the top of the mountain. This world be the "Golden hour" about an hour before sunset where the light is really good for all kinds of photography.

The sunset itself, nice bright colors contrasting well with the dark shadows across the mountains.

After sunset and the "Golden hour" the clouds can be briefly lit from below. It's a very short lived circumstance of geometry but if you wait you can get a fantastic natural light show!

Once the sun had fully set, and even those last rays were below the horizon. The city lights looked quite wonderful.

This photo is quite interesting. The top line of city lights is actually the opposite side of Osaka bay, with the right portion being Kobe and tiaras the left side Osaka city.

Near the center of that kind of lights in the top of the above photo, even at 64km away (measured with Google Earth) we can see the bridge that connects Kobe to Awaji Island!

That suspension bridge is 4km long! It takes a while to drive across it, but that is still much faster than a ferry!

Thank you for checking out photos! Have a great day!
